RAW write times

There's probably a very simple answer to this, but here goes..........

The 8080 takes approx 13 secs to write a RAW image to the CF card, or one minute if I take 4-5 consecutive shots.

I read yesterday that the DSLR Nikon D70 and Canon 350D write RAW files in 2 and 4 seconds. SHQ Jpegs in 1 sec and 4.5 respectively.

I think they are 8 and 6.1 Megapixels, and have similar memories etc. Anybody know how they process information faster please. Not that it will make any difference to me but my curiosity has been piqued.

no dumb firmware limit of write speed...

Oly can make the raw write times much shorter as well as allowing writing while taking pictures, you can shoot while writing jpg as long as the buffer isn't full.

Probably just trying to differentiate from DSLR, as if the main competition for the e300 would've been the c8080 =P

as it wouldn't be a good idea as long as the P&S competition don't get that much faster.

But yeah, I'm confident they could fix it if they wanted to, unlike the fairly slow contrast detection and sensor flush causing slow AF respectively shutter lag=)
