I was looking on B&H at rolling cases because I think that's what I need, but there are so many, I wouldn't know where to begin. Does anyone have one that they like and recommend?

That looks nice - but is it big enough for all my stuff?

20D, 35 1.4, 50 1.4, 70-200 4, 300 4, 100 2.8 macro, Tam 28-75, Tam 18-200, 580 flash, 8x10 gray card, remote cord, flash cards/batteries, laptop? And prolly another lens (wide so not too big) geez I have too many lenses don't I...

Wendy,

I've also been looking for a rolling case. I'd like to be able to slip a notebook computer inside. I ordered a Lowepro Rolling Computrekker AW from B&H but returned it because it was not smooth rolling and the backpack/waistbelt combo was bulky, preventing the case from laying flat.

I'm now considering the LowePro Pro Roller 1 or 2. I like that the camera insert is removable, but there isn't anywhere to put a notebook computer. I also like that it allows easy access to all your gear, you don't have to dig thru layers, etc. Tamrac has a version of this but it's about $350 and once I get to this price point I like to see before purchase. I've already eaten shipping charges on the first bag, so I'm leery this time around.

B&H is out of the Pro Roller 1, as is everyone else it seems. The Tamrac version has bigger wheels I think which would be nice in certain conditions.

You can view the LowePro Pro Roller's here: http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Rolling_Cases/classic/Pro_Roller_1.aspx

Wendy-

I really like my new Loewpro Roller 1. Solid but lightweight. God insert system, lots of pockets, true cary on size, and the insert system can be lifted out and put into a hard shell case for airline luggage shipping.

Hey,

I have been using the Porter Case for about 2 years. It is GREAT. I am able to get it onto most every plane without any problems. The small planes from Salt Lake to Jackson are occasionally a bit of a problem, but I have managed to keep it from ever having to be checked in. It is a much faster way of moving around with my equpiment.

I've had my LowePro Pro Roller Mini for two weeks now and it is the best and most useful case I've had in 30 years. And over 30 years I've had a lotta camera bags. This spring I was watching a guy with using one at Stone Mountain Park here in Georgia and I was lugging my stuff around starting to feel the weight a little too much. That evening I started researching the different rolling cases on the Internet and since I have always liked the quality of LowePro, I decided on the LowePro Pro Roller Mini.

Here is what it looks like. Be sure to look at the alternate views and to enlarge them.

I got mine from Henry's Photo in Canada for $127 US.

Not enough room for all of that....

But what would be, besides a trailer you'd tow behind the car?

Hm, I never heard of it but found the web site - which ones work best for photo equipment and laptop?

Wendy

Hi Wendy,

I am not sure, quite honestly. I would hate to steer you wrong on this. The Porter Case is designed to be relatively small. I am not sure how much equipment you are going to be carrying.

To give you an idea of what I fit in mine, let me go through the list. :)

I own the Deluxe Case. I normally fit 2 SLR bodies, all of my lenses (70-200L f2.8, 28-70L f2.8, 16-35L f2.8, fisheye, 50 mm, emergency 28-135 IS and emergency 70-300), 4 flashes and batteries - but it is snug. I am anxious that adding a laptop may push things over the edge - though I am not sure. It may not be as much of a push if I took out the paper divider off the top (which has my filters, spare contracts, etc).

I hope this helps. The laptop is what I am concerned about. Normally we carry this in a seperate bag.

Wendy......I've just e-mailed you to see if you've made any progress on your search. I'm in the same boat.
