Well I bought a Digital Wallet for my vacation next week only to find it does not work with the 128 MB Flavor of Sony's Memory Stick. Their tech support was very responsive but in the end this is what they sent me...

"If all you have are 128 meg cards, you may continue to have this problem. We have not currently got any workaround for this problem, though one may come up in the future in a future firmware update. This is a relatively newly discovered problem, and our engineers are evaluating it."

So that sucks entirely.

Is there an alternative out there? I need to know ASAP or I am SOL.

Thanks in advance for any leads.

Oh,oh, that's terrible to hear! I am glad I went with the Nixvue 20GB DA. I too was worried that the Nixvue might not work with Sony's 128MB stick since I only saw on Jobo's website support for 32MB and 64MB memory sticks after the fact that I bought it. Luckily when I tried it out with my 128MB memory stick (which was almost full with 85 pictures from my Sony S75) it uploaded everything just fine. The Nixvue is a neat little unit and I can recommend it. It's an expensive initial outlay though.

The cheapest fix is to get a smaller card or two and download more frequently.

Thanks for the response...

I was looking at the Nixvue...where did you buy yours? And would you mind tellingme how much it was. I might be able to find the 10GB version for a little bit less.

Thanks.

Willyee,

As per my e-mail I've updated the website to include this. Just a quick note, the cards mentioned on the website aren't an exhaustive list, just ones I personally know work.

Exsilio, I paid list price for it ($599.95) from BH Photo in NYC.
It was brand new unopened and worked fine with no problems (so far)

straight out of the box. Depending on where you are, add tax and shipping costs and it will come out to about $649 or more from BH Photo.

I've seen and read elsewhere that you can get it for $499 discounted from some website online etailers. Search the threads here for it. I think it was something like Hunts Photo or something like that... but don't hold me to it. It is a nice little unit but I think it is a bit plasticy and flimsey built. It definitely does not seem like it would withstand an accidental drop to the floor! (but I don't think any hard drive device would either).

Good Luck!

There is something different in the 128MS. I went to unload the 128MS into my Laptop via the PCMCIA card. The computer insisted that it was a new device and had to find and load a new driver. It settled on the same driver it had been using but had to do a new install. All is perfect now, but there is a difference.

I have used the 128MS with my NIXVUE/ Digital Album. In there it works just fine.
