We heard about a hot air ballooning event about 3 hours drive from Adelaide so booked a room at a local motel and drove up on Sunday.
We had a public holiday Monday. ;o)

Set the alarm for 5am Monday morning because the balloonists are early risers and headed to the local oval for the launchings.

Well , as luck would have it , the winds were too strong and I haven't a balloon photo to share !

Renmark is on the Murray River and not wanting to leave empty handed , followed the signs to a place nearby , called Paringa. Here are a few images I took along the way.
All with the 8080.

Hi Bill,

Sorry that you didn’t have opportunity to take pictures of balloons. It is always great to see them, so colourful and free up there in the air.

But you brought back excellent pictures of that place. I like that lighting very much too.

So, to me, your weekend was not waste of time. Great stuff.

Also, I just discovered a gold mind (your Gallery). I’ll be back later today to go through it and enjoy in your pictures :).

Thanks for this set,
Alex.

g'day Alex ,
We did have an enjoyable time.
The meal at the hotel on Sunday night was excellent.

And as you point out , at that time the next morning , the sun brought out all the colour in the cliffs along the river.
Appreciate hearing from you,
cheers mate,
Bill

As I mentioned to Alex , we had a lovely meal Sunday night at the hotel and the local scenery is worth the trip alone.

58 years and going strong , you two are a marvel CC !

But a good thing about the pictures you got. Really good shots Bill. Great colors and exposures. What's up with the tractor? A carving?

So do they have a "wind date"? :-)

David

There's a popular ballooning spot about an hour north of town.
One of these days we'll caqtch them in the Barossa, that's a date ! lol
The tractors for real.

Iam guessing the early morning light , the rust and my pp have given it that carved look. :o)
I liked the way someone parked it there !
cheers mate,
Bill

There'll be other opportunities for balloon shots.
And seeing those cliffs lit by the early morning sun was a treat.
Trust your getting to grips with E300 ! :o)

Isn't it amazing how a river can change so much from one end to the other. It looks so different up your end with those cliffs, nothing like that up this end, not that I've ever seen anyway. To get a photo here like your last one you'd have to get airborn. Futherest down river I've been is Mildura and that was about 10 years ago. Great Pic's love the tractor.

The cliffs are mostly on the bends and having been born in Murray Bridge , I know they occurr as far down as Tailem Bend, the next larger town along the Murray.

There are sections of limestone cliffs as well and they are pretty spectacular too.
All the best,
cheers

With shots like that, after I opened your post, became so engrossed in viewing, I forgot I was originally expecting Hot Air Balloons.
Superb shots my Friend.

The person on the cliff is Mel taking a nap with the 750 !!

I didn't notice how close to the edge she was til' I saw the photo on the monitor !!

Hmmm....not sure why nothing happened at the gallery.
Have checked , what's got me, I should have uploaded a larger dimension.
600x400 really doesn't do it justice.

I had only thought to take photo's of the balloons. We were waiting in the car hoping the wind would drop and Mel asked if I was going up.
I guess that's the reason for those big 10 person baskets !
It hadn't dawned on me til then. I can be a bit slow at times ! lol
Hopefully the next time we'll get a chance for a "birds eye view" .

cheers Bob,

The E-300 and I are still very much in the getting acquainted stage, but thanks for asking, Bill. I'm looking forward to getting past the camera and getting back to taking pictures :-)
