Hi Brian!

How's things with you? Good to see you posting - loved your tips in the 'learning' thread, btw. I think you should have a site/web page/journal with all of them on it - do you? I want to see it if you do, please. :-)

Loved the new car show gallery - even better than the first, I think, mainly because of the abstracts. I hope you'll always feel "at home" here so I can see your 'latest'.

FYI, i haven't posted anything on my web site in a very long time. But I haven't been idle - have talen TONS of pix, just haven't had time to process/post, etc.

A little surprise - One of my latest pix won the OTF's Challenge 36. (I wish i had the link to it, but didn't save it.) Anyway, I am busy doing 'stuff' and am thinking of a topic for Challenge 37 - hope to have it ready go soon.

As always, nice to hear from you.

Take care & again, great new gallery!

Hi Jan!
Hi Brian!

Things are excellent. :)

Thank you! I am glad you found those useful. I haven't had a whole lot of time to write posts like that anymore, so those were just reposts of things I've written in the past I thought might be useful. Unfortunately (or not, depending on your point of view), I don't have a central repository for my ramblings on all things photographic, but if I make one, I will definitely let you know about it. :)

Thanks again. I am very glad you enjoyed those shots. They were fun to take.

I understand completely!

Excellent news! Congratulations to you. I will have to go check out the site so that I can see the pic.
As always, nice to hear from you.
And you too, Jan.
Take care & again, great new gallery!

I always hesitated to call you "Jan" in here since I never saw you post your name and thought you preferred more anonymity. Apparently, it must be ok now. lol

Hello everyone,

Found myself unexpectedly at another car show today in Princeton,
and put together a small gallery of shots. If anyone is interested
in having a look, here is the URL:
Thanks Brian, indeed, had a look.
Very nice indeed, thanks.
Excellent on the exposures there.

If I may comment please?
All the shots are "abstracts".

IMO it makes the gallery seem monotonous, even though the subject matter differs.

Does this make sense?
Thanks again.

I enjoyed the gallery Brian. As always, nice work. I picked my top 2 favorites. They might surprise you, 003 and 023.

BTW, I might have discovered something about my lens. That tulip shot was at 35mm (full zoom). Shots at 28 and 17 don't look like that. Are those differences expected between those focal lengths or could a lens have a problem only at full zoom?

I really like the "abstract" nature of the gallery. Car show photos can be so formulaic.

I am an older guy. I am able to identify the car make of most of the photos including the headlight of the '54 Corvette. Am I correct?

Hi Brian,

I always liked those kinds of shots. You have a great sense for details.

I really enjoyed going through those pictures. I like 008, 009, 017 & 011 the most. I haven’t see Opel sign for decades :). Thanks!!!

Great stuff,
Alex.

My wife wants to know if this was a quiz? I could ID a number of the shots, but my wife didn't even remember the portholes on her father's Buick. Oh well!

I enjoyed viewing your gallery and the challenge it offered me this morning. Next time I go to an auto show, I'll view if from a different perspective.

Yes, it makes perfect sense. To be honest, I somewhat agree with you. But there were so many people I just didn't feel like taking whole car shots and getting them in the frame. For me, taking these kinds of shots is something like a game. I try to figure out what part of the car really sums up the whole "personality" of it, and then try to shoot just that. But again- I do understand exactly what you mean, and maybe I should go for a little more variety.
Thanks again.
Thank you for your thought-provoking comment! :)

Thank you Andy. Glad you liked. The two you picked don't surprise me, but that's only because I can never tell what other people might like or not. Some shots I've loved have been almost universally hated by friends, and the converse is true also, so I just never know. :)

It is possible the lens has a problem only at that focal length...but I'm just not sure yet about it. I have been trying to send you an e-mail for a day or so, but am having e-mail "issues". Let me know if you get it, ok?

Hi Alex,

Thank you very much for your kind comments. I am glad you enjoyed them. As for the Opel- I haven't seen one in a long time either!

Hi Dave,
Even though I appreciate abstracts (really liked the buick hood
ornament)...I would also like to see an ocassional full car shot to
create a little more interest...I really do like this kind of
thing. See my site you will understand why.
Nice shots you've got there. I understand your point of view, and I agree with it somewhat...but I just can't help myself...I really rather enjoy picking out an interesting detail and focusing (pun intended) on that as a way to represent the whole car. I'll try to get a few wider shots next time though, and see how it goes. :)

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.
