I sure miss my built in PW that was installed in my D1X. I was doing some portrait work and forgot what it was like work up close with the client and still be able to fire the camera. Nikon should just build it into the D2X as an option like my Sekonic meter. I'm surpised with all the new features of the D2X this was overlooked. Maybe the people at PW will start installing tranceivers in the D2 series soon.

I totally agree, this is a product that should be in all pro level cameras. The PW in a hot shoe works great, but it would be even better if it was built in.

Why this was dropped I have no idea...
No room. From what I understand, D1X still had some empty spaces where film camera guts (film cassette, take up spool, etc) were removed. Some of the spaces were filled in with electronics, but there was still a surprising amount of empty space availiable. D2X is a bit tighter.

is called "iTTL." I do like the PW better though, even though there's no TTL, there's also no delay. The iTTL lag can get very annoying.

Now imagine iTTL with radio range! Now that would be sweet. I use mutiple SB-800's with iTTL, but the whole system falls apart when distance is involved. Too bad the SB-800's couldn't "talk" over a greater distance. The other thing is sometimes you need a lot bigger strobe than a shoe mount flash can output. Nikon should make the 800's work with RF and make adapters for our portable stobes. Man, I'd be one happy camper.

But you do have flash exposure lock even on D70 and that can ensure no lag and consistency from shot to shot. Or you can use manual if your setup doesn't change - also no lag.
