If you have Win 2000 or XP you dont need Kodak Easyshare Software, we are all different I guess but I for one dont like Easyshare, plenty of free programmes available including Picasa2 and Firegraphic7, both of which are better.

God Bless.

I don't use EasyShare software on my computer. And I use a card reader all the time to download photos from my different cameras, to my computer. Works well for me.

On the other hand, my wife uses the Docking Station to download photos from the DX7440 to her computer, and she uses EasyShare. To her, this method works.

Both methods work good. Personal preference I guess...

I like to use the docking station (already plugged in, don't need to remove the card, and the camera charges for me there)

and not the Easyshare software. (The docking station with camera is read as a drive and I just copy the photos to where I want.)

I don't care for the Easyshare software either. It appears to be somewhat of a RAM/processor hog too. Un-install it and you'll see your 'puter start-up faster. lol

I do believe that most picture software will be able to help you get your pics from the camera. I use Paint Shop Photo album to collect and catalog them and Paint Shop Pro 9 to edit.
Yes if you use a memory card, it will work in a card reader.

I haven't tried it yet, but I've also heard that if you use the camera dock without the Easyshare Software installed it will still let you transfer the pics to my 'puter. UPDATE (LOL): I just tried it and it works too. lol (without the kodak software)

You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me.

I was wondering about that also. I use Windows XP. I don't like EasyShare software but didn't know that by uninstalling EasyShare I could download pix from camera on the dock just like it was another drive. I will try that tonight. Do you still need to press transfer button for computer to recognize camera?

Thanks,

Lakshmanji,

easyshare of Kodak is very nice and user friendly software in its latest version. Card reader is always useful everywhere, with or without PC.

One more data point. I uninstalled EasyShare software last night from my Windows XP PC. Works great. Can download pix just like they are on another drive or use one of my imaging/organizing programs to download off the camera.

Thanks for the tip.
