i placed my dell order on 4/21 and it was originally expected to ship on 4/26, then 5/3, then 5/10 and late last week it was moved to 5/17.....checked my order status this morning and low and low me away...the camera shipped yesterday!!!

Me three!

I placed my order Sat morning April 23rd, and I found out it shipped yesterday. I'm expecting it tomorrow! I have to work this coming Saturday, but I have a number of activities planned to keep me busy the next several weekends.

Typical DELL! I placed my order on 4/16 - still showing backorder, delayed w/ estimated ship date of 5/18!!!! Somebody wouldn't want to email me their order # so I could call DELL and ask them about MY order would you?
That's if I can even get to speak w/ a human when I call -----
Thx, Bob

Ordered mine 4/26 with an est. ship date of today - 5/11/05. Still shows backorder but I'm hopeful.

Finally spoke to a real Dell person and he indicated my order will be delayed until 5/22. Cancelled it and ordered from B&H, since I need the body this weekend.

Good luck to the rest of you still waiting. Like I said in another thread, if you have the time and patience, it is well worth the $$$ saved.

Patience is a virtue - I just got off the phone w/ two different dept.s @ Dell. E&A sales tells me the camera is currently in stock and they don't know why I haven't been shipped one. They're "looking into it" . Ahhh well, time will tell.

We have reviewed your order. Although we had anticipated being able to ship your order sooner, we are experiencing an unexpected delay with your order xxxxxxxxxx and will not be able to ship this order and any associated orders until on or before 05-23-2005.

I also cancelled and ordered through BH. Low and behold, the body shipped 36 hours after I cancelled. Called them again and they told me to "refuse" the shipment when it comes in.

Dell chat (what a joke) informed me that Dell was a direct vendor for Canon. Is this true?

Dell order won't show up until next week according to the tracking info. I've already got 500+ activitations on the body I have, and will be using it extensivly this weekend.

Here's one of the first photos I took with the 1DM2. 135 2.0L, at f2.0, ISO 3200, no noise reduction, no sharpening, only a WB tweak and resizing to 1/2 size and conversion from raw to jpeg!. This is one sweet setup! PS. My previous experience with Canon cameras dates back to the 80s when I had an A1. I had the 1DM2 for a total of 1 hour before taking this (and many more like it) picture.

Not sure what "direct vendor" means, but I specifically asked and was told by Dell (via email) that Dell is a USA Authorized Canon Dealer.

What number did you use?

I have read that another vendor suppied Dell instead of coming direct from Canon.

Used the sales # on the E&A page, switched from about 4 different extensions (everyone was pleasent and cheerful), but no resolutions.

actually the camera has been on back order at adorama for quite a while in fact, it was showing backordered before the canon annuouced rebate offer.......you place your order at adorama and they ship the 1dMKII to you when it comes in.....as a result there is virtually no in store stock available....
