Nikon really trying to please us or just accepting the inevitable?

Hey man you can call me what you want, no big deal to me. I have seen you respond out of the blue with comments like this - just arrogant and aggresive, and I know what to expect from you. Like I said, my response was an accurate observation of your attitude in responding to people, telling them they are idiots, or to 'shut-up', whatever.

What exactly is it that I am supposed to learn? I already know what i need to know about you.

If you know what to expect from me why bother answering to me ?

I have been contemplating buying a Pentax Ist DS or a D50. And in PHIL'S REVIEW of the DS he showed resolution problems with JPEGs. I emailed Pentax and they said there probably wouldn't be a fix (BTW I am a Pentax SLR user so I do have a bias toward Pentax). It kind of shook my confidence in future support of their products.

By doing a Nikon D70 firmware update, I have greater confidence that the D50 will be suported in the future, making it more likely that I'll buy a D50. It is not just D70/D70s sales that make increase because of this support but their other models too.

Again a very good point, It seems Nikon have really helped their perceived image by giving this firmware update freely. Its certainly the most anticipated update since the launch of the D70 and I'm glad to see them looking after us loyal buyers

Tom is right, but there is much more to the story.

The Canon dSLRs use an variant of Intel x86's processors, and run ... MS-DOS as the operating system. This makes it easy to find deassemblers and debuggers for the code (and for free).

Nikon's dSLRs use a processor made by Hitachi. The development tools exist but are very expensive. Check this web site:
