Bryan,

thanks for the info. Knowing IR works fine I can use my spare time to test other things with the D7 ;)

WOW. Now we can replace the nightvision system on Apaches copters with a D7!

Just kidding...

BTW very nice work. Thank you very much for this information.

Bryan,

Great to know the D7 works for IR shots.

A couple of questions for you:

Does the image show up well on evf and lcd when shooting?

How do the results compare with the 950, which was very good at IR?

Am interested in knowing what sort of results can be expected with an R72 Hoya filter if anyone else has tried the D7 on IR shots.

Thanks for your input Bryan - it is always informative.

Regards, Keith

Yep, this is definitely a winner when it comes to looking trough skirts, especially with the viewfinder sensitivity turned up.
Me perverted ? No just plain honest.

You are obviously in the wrong forum!

IR obviously means something else to you, as the sensitivity of still digicams is not in that area.
Hope you are not too disappointed.

Serious responses still welcomed

Yes, just fine.

I'd guess, not having my 950 any more, that it is a bit better. Anyway, exposures in sunlight were reasonable, none of this having to set ISO 400 or anything. I'll bet that with a decent real filter you can even hand hold shots. Bryan

Thanks Bryan. I miss good ir capabilities with the 990, so it is encouraging news that the D7 has not followed the path of the 3MP cameras.

If I would have replaced the word skirt with the word fog, I would probably not have been flamed like this I suppose ?

Not so sure about that, I remember a website where they listed several digicams as reasonably usable for NIR, of course the IR filter does indeed block a large part of that spectrum.
Hope you are not too disappointed.
To be honest, I am a bit disappointed in the way you reacted but maybe I overestimated your sense of humor (or am I too sensitive, could be).
