P.S., I'm terrible at proof reading my posts for spelling errors,so I use ieSpell with Internet Explorer and SpellBound with Firefox(both are free).Once installed, I just Right-click on my message here and select Check Spelling.
i bougt a dsc-w7 last week and returned it today as most pics i took outdoors in auto mode where terible and had u use the manual mode to take anything decent i had high hopes for this camera and was very disaponted in it
Set your ISO to 400 (post process with Noise Ninja or Neat Image).
Use Spot Autofocus (focus, half-press, recompose, shoot).
Keep zooming to a minimum and hold as steady as you can (use whatever's at hand to support you and/or the camera).
I don't use flash much, but you still have to hold very still when using flash (sync speed of 1/40 sec).
I don't use the AF Illuminator.
Take lots and lots of shots.
Hope these help.

Good judgment comes from experience.
Experience comes from bad judgment.
Steady hand with small cameras. Alot of movement in the scene won't work with any camera that small in a dark room.
Try P, so you can up your ISO, when the room is dull and dark.[found off your menu button] Generally your shutterspeed needs to be above 80-100 to get really sharp photos. And keep in mind, the photos you see online usually have been manipulated, like sharpened or lightened, etc. And even those in full size look not so sharp. Did you try printing any in a smaller size like 5x7? A huge difference in that and full size.
Tell us eactly what your results were and typical lighting where you had problems? That would help us shoot for answers.
