I get two different warnings and I can't launch Adobe Bridge in PSCS2

When I open Photoshop CS2 I get following message:

And when I try to open Adobe Bridge for browsing I get following message:

I have tried to reinstall the application several times. For the second message I have also tried to launch both Adobe Elements and PSCS - with no results. It isn't possible to run PSCS and PSCS2 at the same time.

What's wrong? Do anybody have any ideas?

Adobe Bridge is the new version of their file browser, correct? I would do what it says to do-- go ahead and reinstall. Make sure you do a "typical" and not a "custom" install so everything needed will load.

If you try to reinstall you can only choose between "Repair" and "Uninstall"
I tried both options - with no result.

... then reinstalling. If this doesn't work, then check out the Adobe forums. If others have experienced the problem, then you'll likely find a solution there.

Are you running a firewall? PSCS2 needs to access the net throughout the install process. Turn off the firewall durning the install and give it a try. We ran into this while testing it. I run Zonealrm and had the same situation. Let me know if this helps.

Yes but it is turned off and my Mcafee antivirus is disabled. I have just tried to reinstall PS Elements 2, PS CS and PS CS2.

And I am still getting the same two errors. I have got a long list of things to try from Adobe Support center - the last suggestion is to format the C-drive and do a new installation of Windows and then install PSCS2.

I think it is easier to buy a new HD and start from there - such things takes a long time.

I Had the same problem. I uninstalled the program and then restarted my computer and then re-installed the program and it works fine

Good Luck

How comfortable are you with the registry and deleting out keys? I would remove the keys associated with PSCS2...delete out the PSCS2 folder on the main drive and go for the clean install. If you make it through the install process... start up PSCS2... allow the firewall to let PSCS2 out to the net... and then try to launch Bridge from within PSCS2. When you start pscs2 for the first time you will get the welcome screen and then the updated will go out and try to update. When you unistall...also make sure you do not save the activation or keep your presets.

I wish you luck with the app. The new features are wonderful!

Hope you get it working.

HI,

This is the wrong forum for this issue. Post these kind of problems in the PC Tools forum.

I had the same error messages after my installation. I couldn't find anything on Adobe's website so I called their tech support, they were very courteous but none of the suggestions worked. Some of the things I tried were, uninstalling, removing all temp files, and reinstalling on a second hard drive. Luckily I have a good backup so I eventually reformatted the HD and just started from a clean install. All works well now.

Did you notice the "no post bumping" rules too?

I ask because you recently bumped one of your posts to elict a response. That isnt allow but no one called you on it.

Just be consistent when be a policeperson, please.

Wow, I just look at his post and saw one blunder. This guy is a piece of work. He never responds to anyone calling him on it.

That's bad advice, do not under any circumstances turn off your firewall, unless you actually like viruses and trojans.

If PSCS2 needs internet access during the install (I'm not actually certain that it does), it will be able to do that with the firewall in place. Some internet security software will flag a warning when a new program tries to use your internet connection, but you will be able to ok it and it will proceed normally.

Unfortunately I can't help much with the installation problem. The best advice you've had so far is to get onto the Adobe forums.

I know that this is not exactly the right forum for my problem, but so far it is one of the most active, helpfull and serious places to get help for anything concerning digital photography.

My deepest apologies to people who get offended by off topic posts like this but I am very thankfull to people who want to help.

Not bad advice...just not the best advice I suppose... Yes you run the risk of being exposed to the deadly internet for a minute or so. If your system is so messed up... then a fresh format of everything would be the way to go.

Most firewalls do flag you when the application tries to access the net. During this process...and when the app flags you...the lag can cause the install to fail. It has done it to me in the past. It didn't with the most recent build.

Again, hope you get the app running... fantastic program. Hatch

I, too, despise self proclaimed forum purifiers and can never understand why they bother posting instead of going about the business.

Numerous times I have pressed the cancel button after writing a well-desrved and really snotty reply to vent. I had major issues with "neigbourhood watches" and the such when I came to the states (in how many secs do you think someone ll reply if you don't like it leave it ?). Just a historical reference: In **** Germany neighbourhood watches=people policing the streets for any inappropriate behavior, they were gestapo's eyes and ears.

Having lived in a depressed city (Baltimore) I understand where many of these people are coming from and why they behave like that. My certainty in the validity of the above paragraph is being reduced. It is a lose-lose situation...

hallo, we are in the same boat! but with a little other "errormessage": I can activate throug the firewall (zonealarm) without problme. but seconds after it claims that the system has changed and therefor the license is not longer activ.... its the 5th day I try to get cs2 work on my laptop, but without any success and no real help of the support. I did format the system and it still doesnt work. If I find a solution I will let you know!
