350/ XT Vs 10d?

No $900 20D kits being sold anywhere.
In another thread you made reference to $460 refurb 350Ds available.

In favor of 350D: Faster to start, faster review times, better buffer/write times, more shots/second sustained, more megapixels, lower noise, is lighter and smaller, and is able to use both EF-S and EF lenses.

In favor of 10D: Larger viewfinder, has more practical controls, more custom functions. Most people prefer the 10D ergonomics.

The 350D is the more advanced camera with potentially higher-quality images. However, the differences in image size, noise, burst speed, buffer, start time, etc, are small enough that some feel the handling and controls of the 10D to outweigh these advantages.

Personally, I'd rather have a 350D. However, I can see why not everyone would, so I recommend you try them both.

YES BOTH WERE AVAILABLE AT AMAZON.COM-RESELLER THEN. I WAS TEMPTED TO GET THE 350 BUT DIDN'T AFTER HEARING CAUTIONED!

Trust me when I say that they were NOT available, no matter how much you want to believe that Amazon reseller really had some to sell.

Some people... stop spreading lies about scams here.

A fair assessment. Would I change my 10D for a 350D? No way. The only seroius issue for me is noise and by the time I have put images through Noise Ninja the results look as good as the current generation cameras produce.

I have better things to do then to spread lies. You should stop calling names as you can be sued for liability in the real world. Get your facts right before accusing others.

The 10d is, or was, 'almost' a pro-level camera. The XT is an entry level camera.

As the former owner of a 10d and the owner of an XT, I really don't see them as compareable. The 10d is HUGE; big and heavy. Autofocus is horrible. ISO performance is not as good as the 20D. They are still expensive used, $700 plus.

The XT is an entry level/consumer cam. Its layout is more like a point and shoot than a SLR (i.e. change settings via menus.) If memory serves it has every major feature found in the 10d. ISO performance is on par with the 20d. They can be had for as low as $700 new (Dell.)

Me, I'd go with the XT and take advantage of the new technology. The 10d is no slouch, and I enjoyed using it, but the size/weight make it more suited to pro work than casual/hobby use.

"Amateur Photographer", a weekly British photo magazine, tested the 350D and the reviewer said that that even with its extra pixels the 350D does not have better resolution than the 10D. In fact, the reviewer said that the images from the 10D are clearer even enlarged beyond their 300ppi maximum. However, they found that the 350D had a number of benefits, such as much better flash which might warrant upgrading. Also, it was not clear to me to what extent the reviewer was talking about JPEG images rather than raw. The review is in the 23 April 2005 issue. There may be some here who own both the 350D and the 10D who could comment on whether they agree with this reviewer.
