im very new to this kind of lens. It is a challenge to use with an extremely narrow DOF. But if i can get results like this those of you who "know what to do " must get AWESOME results!!! BTW / im extremely scared of bees so i didnt push my presence on my 1st outing.....

Animals Thank You!

Nice photo.

How do you find tis lens for both normal usage and macro work? I am about to buy one for my 350D.

Nice pictures. Thank you.

I will be buying it more as a general purpose lens and taking portrait, landscape (I have wider lens for this). Am venturing into macro and thought the macro is an added bonus (cf EF100 f2.0).

From your pictures and commends I obtained in another thread, I am convinced that this is indeed a very good lens.

Anyway, surely we welcome others with this lens to post their images here.

Cheers.

btw, I am just an amateur who had played with EOS300 and zoom lens before but now wanting to switch to prime with better optics.

350D, Kit lens, 50mm 1.8.
EF100 macro in the pipeline.

I am trying to decide on this lens as well. How does it compare to the Tamron 180 Macro and the canon 50mm 2.5 Macro with life size extender for macro work? I already have a 28-135 IS Canon , a 70-200L 2.8 and 2X extender, the 18-55 kit lens with 20D, and the 50mm 2.5 Macro.

I have the regular ranges I need covered, but I would like some really good macro capability.

I love this lens - 100mm f2.8 macro..

I suggest you invest in some kenko extension tubes AND the 100mm...

I carry the 50mm 1.8 and a 12mm tube.... along with my 17-85 IS so I can pop it on if I see a close-up opportunity.. small and sharp

my latest examples of both lenses (the 50mm with tubes)

1/2 way down for the 100mm f28

I was wondering about the 50mm 2.5 macro
how it does....

Given that it's one of the sharpest lenses you can buy and has excellent bokeh ....

Canon.

I like the 2.5 Macro in general, but I want to get more magnification. I actually got that lens free from Canon when I entered some photo course that came with my A2E years ago. I didn't know much (still don't) so I guess I was lucky.

Wonderful lens, this 100mm, when lighting is right, creates a very painted-like blur:

And since I don't have any zooms yet, I stuck an oly tcon14b on it, still managed to get super sharp pics with minimal processing:
