D50 fake? or real?

Whether the photo is fake or real the camera is comming really soon. Nikon UK has confirmed it, see news section of this web site

I'm more than happy with my D70 and its 6MP so maybe someday I will replace it with a D70s, just because I don't need more than 6MP. And I don't care if Nikon releases a 24MP D3 or D4 in some years... 6 is all I need.

It would come as no surprise to me if the D70s comes with a 8mp sensor. If the D50 is indeed a 6mp camera and taking the biggest market competitor in this segment into account (8mp, Canon 350D), it seems logical to me that the D70s will be on par with the latter. Do hope they will accommodate an external battery grip!

Can't wait to purchase..... be it a 6 or 8 megapixel version but will await the dpreview verdict!

If canon keep the rebel/300D in the market then the D50 will be placed against the 300D, the D70s against the 350D and the D100 against the 20D???

I think the D70s is between the 350D and the 20D (and close to it), and the D50 should be between the 300D and the 350D. All this based on specifications/price and of course if the total number of MPs are the most important thing to you, then this is wrong.

D100 can't compete even with the D70 and it must be replaced... :)

That pic still looks fake to me. The D50 logo is straight while the rest of the camera body is turned at an angle.

looks fake as it comes, looks like some one photoshopped it and
didnt even try to adjust perspective.
Looks like someone did a hell of a job ps'ing the rest then!

I'd be inclined to say this is an official picture by Nikon. I thought all those were artist's impressions (renderings) anyway, rather than real pictures.

I was prototype model maker for 21 years in the UK making models and prototypes for the industrial design business.

Because promotional material and photographs were required of products as soon as possible, our pre-production models were very often used for photography. Our models had been hand made and every square milemeter of them had taken time and tears and the model had probably cost the designers/manufacturers a lot more than the final product ever would. Hence they quite often looked better than the final product.
So in answer to is this a fake?

Quite probably.
