New KM model?

Max shutter of 299,792,458 m/s? (83 hours?)

No wonder it comes with all the entertainment features, to kill the
time while waiting for the shutter to close..
It seems that they are finally paying some attention to real people and
how they use their cameras. Imagine how boring 'lens cap on' tests would
be without those features, like taking a 83 hous exposure in order to analyze
'auto-leveled' 512 Mpixel picture magnified to 400% looking for dead pixels.

While I'm sure this camera will be capable of a 83 hour exposure time (this way you can 3 sunsets and 3 sunrises in the one shot), 299,792,458 m/s refers to the max velocity of the shutter (m/s = metres per second).

Assuming that the time taken to accelerate and decelerate the shutter results in half this speed as an average, and if the shutter covers a distance of 25mm (twice), this would result in a min exposure time of 1 thirty billionth of a second. This probably implies that the effective iso would be something like 20million. Which I assume would have zero noise too.

...given that the shutter moves at the speed of light, it's actually timeless, so exposures can either take no time or infinite time, depending on your frame of reference. Clearly there is no greater range than all or nothing!

Perhaps the next version will feature tachyonic shutters that travel backwards in time and let you capture shots after you've missed them!

...the test of 128Dxii and they are now on their way to the dealerships....but the dealerships have problems disposing them because sony and panasonic (canon and nikon are already out of DSLR business) are already selling the 256Dxii counterpart at haft the price.

You make a compelling case for this new model. A possible drawback would be the Onstar link and the MS office software wifi. Some of us go where neither can be sent nor received, i.e. Death Valley. I suspect the battery to run this machine will fit in the average bed of a 3/4 ton pickup. But the price is right.

Great post!!!

does it fitt my Dynax lenses ??

I heard a rumour saying that it features a telekinetics chip, for turning the focussing and aperture-rings on MC/MD lenses.

Nevertheless, I would be very disappointed if it would not have an APS-sized chip. If it is full-frame, I'd have to buy the 600/F4 instead of using the 400/4.5 with the 1.5 crop.

Congrats on the only one that caught the max shutter speed is the speed of light!

Or you could just crop a 1.5x piece of fullframe sensore produced 12mp image and would get 8 mp picture wich is equivalent to 600mm.

An APS sensor has around .43X the area of a full frame sensor (according to dimensions on Phil's site) so a 12MP FF image crops down to a 5MP image at 1.5X. Not that that's bad ... I could certainly live with it. On the other hand, 12 MP isn't that much higher res than 6MP to begin with (a 40% linear increase) so there's no way I'd be $4000+ for a full frame camera just to get to 12MP. (If the 7D came out at $1500, does anyone think a high end KM FF camera would be under $4000 ? Other mfrs charge $3000 for high end sub-FF models ...)

I'm almost at a point where I think I'd be happy with two cameras, both APS, one 6MP for high ISO shooting and one 12+ MP for low ISO high detail shooting. I'd prefer 16 or more MP in a landscape/nature photography camera, and would be happy shooting from ISO 50 - 200 ... using the pixel density of the 5MP 2/3" chips, you could get 30MP onto an APS sensor - in another couple years, we'll be 5 years past the release of those 2/3" sensors and I have to believe that a reasonably clean low ISO sensor with 16 or 24MP is reasonable. That would be my "poor man's medium format" outfit :) If full frame is affordable (and produced by KM) in another 5-10 years, great, but high res APS is a good alternative, so long as they continue to offer the lower pixel density options for high ISO shooting.

While a coffee maker is of course and essential, I don't think they will sell many if it uses starbucks coffee! Need to use some proper Italian espresso then I would certainly buy one.
