The next release of the Konica-Minolta digital SLR camera will hit the streets at the end of the year just in time for Christmas and $5 a gallon gasoline prices. Unidentified sources within Konica-Minolta state the camera is slated for production beginning this summer through a joint venture with MIT and NASA.
The new "16Dxi" will sport a Kodak 512 megapixel, liquid-hydrogen cooled imaging chip code named "Eye of God" with a 4GB internal buffer, a blistering 16fps rate and a maximum shutter speed of 299,792,458 m/s. The brain of the new 16Dxi is the Fujitsu Primepower HPC2500 supercomputer ingeniously miniaturized and sharing the liquid-hydrogen cooling system of the imaging chip. The power source for all this technology is the world's smallest fusion reactor developed by MIT.
In addition the 16Dxi will provide Wi-Fi Internet access and in a joint venture with GM, an "OnStar" cellular link. The 16Dxi also features Microsoft Office 2004 allowing professional photographers to operate a SOHO office right from the camera. In addition KM's newly developed file format "RAWxi" will allow previously unheard of file compression with no loss of data. This new compression algorithm allows up to 800 RAWxi full size images to be stored on a single 256mb compact flash card.
KM's new CEO Tomohisa Saito stated "The amazing thing about the new 16Dxi is it compatibility with all our previous lenses and accessories through our patented "SoftMorph" technologies developed in cooperation with MIT. The lens mount and hotshoe will biologically morph to accept all KM lenses and accessories including the MC/MD line." Saito continued excitedly, "You get the largest image chip, fastest frames per second, largest internal buffer, an on-board supercomputer, longest battery life and all for only $999.00! And it doesn't include those crappy free AOL offers!"
KM's development of the new 16Dxi is in direct response to the wants and needs of the members of the KM DSLR forum at DPReview.com and addresses issues consistently whined about by trolls and detractors who frequent the board just to PI55 off KM lovers.
