PBase Magazine...now I'm really published

I drag the mag cover to my desktop and it opens the pdf just fine, but when I download the whole magazine the pdf shows up but the pages are blank. I,ll keep trying. Anybody have a clue?

Juli,

Does PS come up when you try and open the PDF, or did that just happen to be in the background? Just curious as Acrobat Reader should be the app that opens...

I'm not sure...but I think you will need to open the PDF with Adobe Acrobat Reader. I'm guessing it doesn't want anyone messing with or modifying the file except the originator.

Don't like it? Just let it go over your head - be happy

Jullie,

Works fine with my home built --AMD2800+ 1024Mb 400MHz RAM 2 x 180Gb SATA150 drives..........

Win XP Pro (SP2 removed) and Adobe Reader 7.01 and it converts and reads just fine. No password required. Just a standard PDF file but congratulations to all concerned with the magazine.

Juli,

I think the others are correct in that if the default action for a .PDF file on your system is Photoshop, then the file may be assuming you want to modify it. You may want to alter the default open action for a PDF file to be the Adobe reader exe file (acrord32.exe) in your folder options (if Windows).
But I have looked at PDF's in PS before.

Arjun, Bill, Wanda, Petteri, Slug and Emily... (and anyone who I may have missed that was involved...

Thanks so much for putting this together. It is a great idea and something I will look forward to reading each time it is released... I agree with others who stated it will be difficult to match the quality of this first issue.

Looking forward to really digging in on it.

It is nice to see you venture in to what some would call enemy territory. I'm looking forward to lots of Nikon related articles in the future issues of the magazine.

This is so neat-- you guys did a great job of it!

For the other stuff:

I think one of the things that is happening to people when trying to open this file directly, is that they don't realize it's in a Zip'd format. Try right-clicking on the link, then saving it to your hardrive. When it's downloaded, double-click on it, then drag/drop it to the folder where you want to save it. If your computer is old enough to not have an unzipping program installed, you can find WinZip at http://www.winzip.com or at http://www.tucows.com .

Juli, it seems to me you've associated PDF files with Photoshop on your system. If you hold down your Shift key while right-clicking on the file, you will get an option to OPEN WITH. Select that, CHOOSE PROGRAM, then select Acrobat Reader as the program to use. Be sure to check the little box that says something like "Always use this program to open this kind of file."
