The premier issue of PBase Magazine is now online and available for download as in a PDF format. You'll want to check it out. There is some really great information in there worth downloading and reading.

Plus an invite to any of you that want to try your hand a writing. There is a need for future articles and writers. This is a totally non commercial magazine put together by a handful of amateurs for amateurs. Nobody is making a cent off this so...the pay is low ..ok nothing.

Here is this months cover.
Photographer- yours truly
Model, clothing design and makeup- Wanda Bates
Cover design- Gary Blanchette
Editor- Arjun Roychowdhury

Congratulations! What a gorgeous shot! The (late afternoon) light, the wind, everything combines for a breathtaking photo. Not least of those factors is that your wife is so beautiful and makes such a wonderful model.

I will check out the magazine. Looks interesting :-).

Bill,

You and Wanda have earned this. Goes to show what a great team you guys truly are.... Congratulations on the honor.. when you stop to think about it though, I don't think there was anyone who held a candle to the efforts you two did in putting that series together...

was well worth the price...free. I found stuff in in the layout article really worthwhile too.

Pbase has certainly benefited from your galleries. Your work receives the highest number of hits for a reason. At a time when more and more sites are available to photographers, Pbase was wise to recognize someone who keeps them in business.

Nice work from both you and your model.

You all did an outstanding job. Only difference between pros and what you did is they get paid. Sometimes they get paid for lousy work. Your efforts were PRIMA!
Thank you for taking on this task.
I love pBase and have enjoyed watching it grow, despite the growing pains.
Really appreciate the technical input regarding customizing pages.

I haven't a clue...I'm an Explorer guy and that stuff was mostly over my head anyway. You might try going to the PBase gallery of the guy that wrote the article...I think there is a link in the article??

Hhmmm I have no idea...I downloaded the little zipped PDF file no problem and it didn't ask me for a password.

I'm using Acrobat Reader 6.01 on an XP system.

I downloaded the PDF for the magazine, but on the site it says you need Acrobat version 7 to open it. I hate anything beyond Acrobat 5 because it's become a real slow pig and takes forever to fire up. I made the mistake of installing version 6 on my work PC and have regretted it ever since.

Also, on Adobe's site, in the "system requirements" for version 7, they state that you must have a pentium processor. I run AMD equpment, so I guess I won't be able to view this magazine unless I buy a new PC and download and install acrobat reader version 7 or greater.

But it sounded like PBase was working on a fix for all of this.

Maybe they'll republish the magazine in a more compatible format at some point.

But meantime, congrats to Bill and Wanda! You deserve a lot of credit for everything you've done.

I'm running Reader 6.01 on a AMD Athlon XP system with zero problem. The magazine loaded for me and reads just fine.

Jim, I know what you mean. However, try acrobat 7 - its miles faster in page rendering than 5.

Juli - there should not be any need for passwords - please check the adobe version you are using.

Unfortunately, the person responsible for creating the PDF is in Australia, and I need to wait for the timezone to be right to figure out how to fix it so it does not rely on later version.
