Lets see your selfportrait

I don't know... I'd rather let it melt. You get used to the feeling of the water dripping down your face after a while. It's not a great feeling at first but it's much better than pulling it off and taking all those wiskers with it! Ouch. It's bad enough that my kids try to plug them.

Maybe I'll come up with something not so scary later. My other half posted a couple on Fred Miranda site in the lighting forum...... caused people to drop like flies!!!

..if in case, you don't have Photoshop? Any cheap alternative (free software preferred)?.

Ahem... you´ve "The Ring 2" lately? It might be you´re posessed by a spooky girl living on videotape... ;-)

I've been into SLR photography for 35 years. Having my photo taken has always been an issue. I expect others to pose/ignore me when I have a camera in their face but when when the almost inevitable, "Let me take one of you" comes up, I become incredibly camera-shy. Why do I hate having my photo taken? I get frustrated when others turn away from my lens while knowing exactly why they do so.

Are there others out there like me? Or is this photophobia a rarity among photographers?

Ok, here I am... took it today... testing with lights... just natural lights... I'm just a beginner....

cheers...

I detest having my photo taken too.

The camera seems to add pounds where there are none, as does it add blemishes, crows feet etc. where I swear there is none! ;-D lol

If someone wishes to take photographs of me, I always feel unprepared. I like to be better dressed, make-up applied (yes, I am a woman) and my hair smoothed. In my day-to-day life, this isn't usually the case and so naturally I don't like the camera spotting me.

Even still, when I am "prepared"-trying to act natural (as if the camera isn't there) is impossible for me to do. I don't like that phony feeling and so, I'd rather not.

On the flip side, I am uncomfortable taking photographs of people for the same reasons I don't like being photographed.

I think in general, people are difficult to photograph. Either because they don't like to be photographed or because I feel uncomfortable "getting in their face" so-to-speak. Children being the exception as they usually enjoy it and they are much cuter to photograph than most adults. lol

Those who are "photophobic" probably have genuine reasons for not liking to be photographed. There are people who simply don't like being the center of attention. It boils down to personality and I have one that would rather avoid being the center of attention.

The best thing a family member could do for me, if they wanted to take photographs of me, is to give me a "heads up" so that I can prepare myself (appearance)...and then he/she being good at keeping a "low profile" with the camera.

Can you identify with this?

I really like the lighting in this photo, and the fact it's bluish tinted. Did you play with the different b/w settings in the camera or did you do the colorization in Photoshop later?

I wouldn't be able to tell you're a beginner... you sure seem to have "the eye".
