OK, I've decided to get the DSC-S75, now the question is what accessories do I need to buy with the camera. I know that I'm going to get a 64MB memory stick, but what about all the othet stuff? Replacement/rechargable batteries? Filters? Lenses? Camera bag? 5 year warrantees?

I'm just going to use the camera for the usual family type stuff and vacations. Can someone recommend what I should get as the basic package? - Thanks

Charlie: Definitely get the 64Meg or higher memory stick. You will not need another battery. The InfoLithum battery seems to last forever. The only other thing I would suggest is a telephoto adapter if you are doing any sports photography such as your kids soccer games etc. I would not buy much else until you have had a chance to use your camera in typical situations and see what you really need. The onboard flash is pretty good and will probably work fine for snapshots. Rather than buy accessories, I would invest in good photo editing software (I use Photoshop Elements and like it a lot). The MGI Photosuite that comes with the camera is almost useless.

Good luck with your new camera.

I pruchased the S75 and I agree with what Doug wrote, I also used my $20 Freebie from registering the camera for their Camera bag from the Sony Website. If you register your camera Sony gives you a 90day $20 gift certificate. Good luck with your camera, it's awesome.

Here is what is on my list of accessories:

Lens adapter ring ( 37 to 52mm Barrel)
Skylight filter (general lens protection)
UV filter

Ciricular polarizing filter (Great for shots on the water or where glare is a problem)

Extra battery (haven't had to use it yet, but maybe on my next trip to Disneyland. I did get down to 70 minutes once, got real nervous)
Tripod
External Flash
64mb card (minimum)
Good lens cloth
Good bag to hold all this stuff

I'm sure you'll develop your own list of must haves.

Good luck and enjoy

Charlie, I just bought my S75 a few weeks ago. I ordered an accessory kit form a site called ECost.com. It was $64 compared with the $99 I see in all the local stores. It has a battery, an 8mb stick and Cybershot case. I know the battery last for a long time but I figure why risk it. I also orded a 128mb stick from Ecost for about $160 which is about what you get a 64mb stick in the local stores. I'm going to take mine on vacation and at the 2megapixel image size I can take over 120 pictures (don't intend on bringing a laptop to dowload pictures). I can give up a few pictures and record some short video clips and some 3.3megapixel shots if I like. The camera is really great. I was impressed by Ecost which at regular shipping prices got me everything in 4 days. There was a $10 handling fee which was annoying but I saved a lot. Good luck!!
