FAULTY XT going back... Bring on the 20D

I have S30, G3, 300D and now 350XT. All have worked perfectly straight out of the box and continue to do so. But I have bought them over the counter and checked them out first.

However I don't assume because all mine worked ok that every one will work ok. This forum had lots of reports of shutter failure on the 300D, the 20D forum had endless cases of lockups and banding, etc., etc.

Perhaps I haven't been paying attention, but this is the first complaint about the XT's quality control I've seen, amidst dozens of posts from very happy (not to say ecstatic!) XT owners.
Someone, sometime, is going to get a box with everything screwed
up. It just looks like your the lucky one. Using one data point
to make a decision would be foolish for anyone on this board.

Furthermore, people are WAY more likely to post if they have a
problem than if everything shows up working just fine. Using the
stories posted on these boards may give some insight but they have
little baring on the true probability of getting a good/bad camera.

I already had a kit lens from the 300D, but I bought the XT kit a) because they only had the kit in stock, b) it was absurdly cheap, and d) it makes the 300D more saleable if I ever want to sell it.
I'm sorry but you're saying you have FIVE FRIENDS and they all have
to return their 5 350Ds to the shop, then you RETURNED 2 XTs
yourself....
Yah, whatever

Well... let me start with the 18-55mm Kit lens... it works fine... but makes
a clicking grinding noise.... I know what this lens is supposed to sound
like... I have the 18-55mm from my 300D....
Who in his right mind would get the 18-55mm kit lens if he already
got one? He has to make a better story than that to make us believe
his fictitious experience. ;-)

Just got my Rebel XT + kit lens today... and guess what... BOTH are
faulty out of the BOX.... RRRAAAAhhhhhhh

What happend to Canon's QC... it obvously doesn't EXIST....
Obviously you haven't realised that the only camera Canon is making
right is the EOS 1Ds Makr II. Everything else is just for children.
They are trying to give away the 20D for free now beacuse it's so
bad, but nobody whan't it.

Ask not what your camera can do for you, but what you can do for your camera.

Think what you will.... why would I lie ??? I just know a lot of prople that upgrade the the latest camera ASAP.... and one WAS a friend of a friend... if you bothered to read it....

AND BY THE WAY..... THIS was the SECOND FAULTY XT out of the box... the first ones shutter jammed after about 20 shots....

What has you got to say about that.. ???

ANYWAY my 20D is on it's way... So i don't give a DAMN...

HOPEFULLY it will work out of the BOX... otherwise NIKON here I come...

Reading from the beginning, and seeing that you had a both a faulty camera and lens that made either grinding noises or other sounds, I would say your package was mis-handled. That doesn't explain that you've seen several with other flaws, but two in one box is unlikely. Now, I did take the time to read that you say the box was mint. If you have never worked on or seen a retail truck/UPS Fedex loading dock, then you don't realize the abuse packages really take. That said, most expensive items are put in plastic totes when they are shipped. So lets say you've got 6 XT's in a plastic tote, and it falls off the top of a stack 6ft above ground. The boxes inside aren't going to show damage... but the contents of them might be another story due to the jarring.
