Really shows the gorgeous tonality of the S3. There is a D2X waiting for me if I want it, and it would be great for my sports shooting. But if I have to sell my S3 to fund it, well, I'll stick to the D2H for sports. Files like this are unique to the S3 IMHO. best...Peter
Yes, I have officially decided that the S3 beats my Chrome scans
with the same lenses. Never thought I would say it.

Hard tone? what settings DR, sharp -? jpeg/raw, 6/12?

It is an amazing camera or at least a camera that produces amazing files.

Hi Pete,

Oh, great, what a strong and serene image, glad that you like your S3 that much. You participated in the thread about grain, did you used some grain with this image ? Bravo!

With very kind regards,

Dirk

Hey, thanks everyone!

I was shooting some raws this morning, but I switched to JPEG Film 1 for these because I was running low on card space. No grain added yet, but maybe for the final image. My dog looks like the big bad wolf and does what ever I tell him, so that helps! We had some sticky spring snow here in Connecticut last night, so it coated everything. I was hoping for the blue sky thing this morning, but no such luck. I stick to Black and white for the grey days.
Fine capture !
Your enthusiasm is even better.

A wonderfully compelling image. This has a whole story embedded in it. You have captured a richly elegant composition as well.

Thanks for posting

Someone feel free to correct me if I have the wrong term. A few books I have read about Zen talk about samahdi, sort of being involved in just the moment at hand, your mind uncluttered with details or definitions. Animals of course are great at this, their minds uncorrupted by words or worries. This is what immediately came to mind when I saw your photo. Your dog just sitting in the environment

experiencing being. With the lovely tones and powerful 3d quality I'm still waiting for him to bark and run back into the trees, leaving fresh tracks in the snow.

Gorgeous shot, and if anyone wants to see the details on how this or any other image was shot,
save it, open it in PS, and click "File Info" under FILE, and hit EXIF.

F-Stop, shutter speed, ISO, everything is embedded in this info.
(F/6.5!!!)

FYI.
