The following photos are of Harvey Robinsons' HO Guage Essex and Lakeside Model Railroad. Harvey has been building his model railroad for over 40 years and is virtually complete (a rarity in model railroads). Harvey and our model railroad group, the Broken & Mangled Operators operate the railroad like the real thing, with schedules, dispatching and freight service! It even runs on time occaisionally!

I'm surprised no one has commented yet. Everyone must be asleep. These are really great. I can't believe he has been working on this for 40 years. What a labor of love!!! Your pictures are just great. I love the way you made it seem like you were there photographing in real life.

Thank you for sharing these.

Nice photos. Thanks for sharing them with us.

One of these days I'm gonna build me a great layout too. Trouble is that I can't afford to have TWO expensive hobbies - photography AND model railroading!

will give us a sense of the scale of this project? Do you have a wide-angle or a pano shot showing the whole setup? But then, not being able to see the whole thing made me feel immersed in the town and switchyard. I noticed that some of the cars looked dusty....like mine, adding to the realism. Great job by the builder AND the photographer.

This is very impressive, both the 40-year project and your pictures.

I can’t imagine time, patience and love that was built into this. I’m amazed.

I like the way you shot those images. It really feels that I’m standing there. Your pictures brought his work to another dimension. Excellent work. The only thing is that I would sharpen them little more (and this is only my personal opinion).

Great stuff,
Alex.

What a very cool subject to shoot and I love the way you did it too. Great angles. The perspective you chose makes it look just like real life. I really enjoyed these. Excellent job Ray.

Thanks for all the compliments, Harvey has done an amazing job with his modeling, he's particularly good at details and scenes. Here's a shot of Harvey and it gives some Idea of the size of his layout. This one shows only about 1/4 to 1/3 of the full layout. Harvey is on the right.
