LiPo Grip...

Has anyone found a good holster type case for the E-10 with Lipo
grip? There must be something out there since the high end Canons,
Nikon and Kodak units all have approximately the same size with
these battery units/motor drives attached. I asked this question
back in November, but I'll try again.
Joe,
I use a Lowepro Field and Street Toploader 70 AW. The camera with
Lipo grip fits perfectly. I can even attach the 1.4 Tele and it
fits. It is a holster pouch but I find it somewhat heavy attached
to a belt unless you use the Lowepro custom belt. I just usually
sling it over my shoulder.
Peter
Thanks Jason and Peter. I'll look into the Lowepro. Putting the case on my belt is not a concern -- my pants would wind up around my ankles due to the weight - not a pretty sight.

Sounds like I going to buy it.

Question, is the charger for LiPo grip dual voltage?
I need it to charge in the U.S. and in Europe.

Bill
It most certainly is ... I bought mine in the US and it works fine over here. The power cord is a standard "telefunken" connector figure-of-8 style cord as used on cassette radios over here and can be picked up at any half decent electrical chain store.

Haven't found anything suitable yet here in the UK ... I have a LowePro bag which will take just the camera itself and I have a Tamrac Explorer 5 (I think) backpack which will take everything including the camera with the grip but nothing for just the camera with the grip.

Phil - Does one have to buy the cord, or will an adapter plug do?

TIA,

Thanks Phil, but I did get the answer already.

I did a search on LiPo, a found an old message post
four months old by someone you know.

"Contents of LiPo Grip Package" by Phil Harris
and someone gave you the answer.

Buying mine tonight and thanks for the reply and email.

If you can get an adaptor plug then it'll be fine ... I just tend to buy the appropriate cords.

I have cords with UK plugs for when I'm here and if I travel to the US then I use teh original US cords - saves messing about with adaptors.

Thanks Phil - I'll be touring in England, Scotland, France and Germany November and December, and adapter plugs are lighter than cords. When I first bought my E-10, I kept my C2000 thinking I'd use it for traveling . . . .NOT! Couldn't dream of leaving the E-10 at home. Last week I intended to shoot all week without the LiPo grip, to see if I could leave that at home . . . I lasted one day. Yesterday my TCON-300 arrived, so I again shot without the grip . . . I'm sure you've already guessed that last night I ordered the SA2 bracket. Although, I must say that IMHO, the price on the bracket is highway robbery. So yes, I MUST love that grip! ;-)

The sa2 grip is expensive but I think it is worth it once you start using it. The additional gripping area make it easy to grip and carry and with a monopod you do not need a tripod. The pic below was hand held with the tcon314b and the sa2 grip, the pic is full frame and no sharpening. Great camera and accs. IMHO.

Great ... well, if you're in the Winchester area and you need to run of a batch of CDs or just want to say hello to a fellow member then it would be great to see you.

It was my first outing with the E10 + TCON300 + LiPo grip at the weekend and one thing that I did find is that the TCON+SA2 is superb for quickly mounting and dismounting the TCON. I was able to switch between the normal and long lenses inmaybe 10 seconds or so ... plus the SA2 has the hand grip which you can still hold onto whilst working with the E10.

Nice piece of kit ... shame they charge so much for it!

Great zebra shot - you (and Jaja!) have very steady hands! And great equipment, agreed. I'm surprised at the DOF - I would have thought the backround (and half the zebra) would have been a lot more blurred with that setup.

Now the "314b" is the 3x lens + 49mm-62mm stepup ring + 1.4x lens, right? Can't wait to try that! Of course, I may tip over...

What a generous and nice offer! I'm touring for business and don't know my exact itinerary yet. But I will let you know if I'm going to be in the area. I'll have my laptop for doing CDs, but saying hello sounds like a nice idea. I've yet to meet an E-10er in person!

That's good to hear, actually. I shouldn't be surprised - so far I've been delighted with each accessory I've bought, and haven't minded the expense in retrospect. Even watching the E-10 price drop, I know using the camera the past couple of months was well worth the extra money.

I picked one up last night, recharge the battery and connected
to the camera. Did not get a chance last night to take any
pictures, but you are absolutely correct. When I first pick the
camera up with the LiPo grip, I was amazed how much more
stable the camera is and I feel more comfortable holding the
E-10 than before. This is a going to have a big impact for me
when I am out all day to shoot pictures.

Bill
Just a little note to anyone toying with getting the LiPo grip for
their E10 ...

... just do it!

I got mine last Friday and it has made a huge difference to the
camera. I have always used a 1Gb microdrive and although most of
the time it has worked fine I have been conscious of it possibly
not coming up and of flicking off the power before flicking it back
on again ... now this just doesn't happen.

There are other benefits too though ... the added weight in
conjunction with that bit of bridgework known as an SA2 really does
make the camera far more stable in use ... I went to Rockingham at
the weekend to a track day and bought a monopod beforehand - wish I
hadn't as I didn't use it all day!

180+ 1:2.7 JPEGs taken over the day and the LiPo battery was still
telling me 80-90% remaining charge.

Love it!

Thanks for the comment. Yes the 314b is the 3x and the stepup ring and the 1.4x, with the lipo grip and the sa2 handle it is easy to get a good steady grip. In this shot it really helped that the zebra was in the sun so I was able to use a smaller aperture. I think you will find that it is easier than you think to hold. Adding the 1.4x lens does not add to the f stop on the lens setup so you end up with a 610mm f2.8, great stuff!

Please do ... I'm sure the wife would love to find out that it's real people I sit here at nights typing away to!

Agreed ... It's been a lot more money than I was planning to spend but I'm loving it!

For the paupers amoung us...

I highly recommend the Dual-Force Pro (see http://www.eagleeyeuk.com ). I thought the trailing wire would be a problem, but it really isn't. This little box lasts for ages! Take's 10 hours to recharge, and I would guess at about 20 hours shooting from that, with LCD on, but I've yet to do a proper test. I'll let you know the results when I do. (oh, £70 ish btw)
