I am considering taking D70, 18-70 Kit Lens, 70-200VR, 50 1.8D, and SB-800 Flash on an off-shore fishing trip in the Atlantic this April for Wahoo and Tuna. The one day trip begins as we leave the dock at 4:00am and ends when we return to clean fish at 6:00pm. The boat is 90'-100' with at least two decks to shoot from, and there will be approximately 15 people on board.

Is there any type of special protection I should consider for any of these items on this trip? I am ordering a Kirk SS-1 carrying strap to carry D70 with 70-200 attached, and I will be ordering a bag, probably a weatherproof back-pack - Any suggestions on this equipment or anything else you think I should get for the trip would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you've got all the bases covered. Just make sure to have UV filters on all of your lenses, to protect the end elements from salt spray.

You should also be very careful when changing lenses to make sure that none of that salt spray winds up inside the camera. And it would probably be good to clean your equipment carefully after shooting.

You will not have any trouble on that size of a boat. I was in Honduras recently and spent a lot of time in 18' boats in the open ocean with my D70. I did like a holster style bag but you will not really need one.

Take a polarizing filter with you for one of your lenses. Maybe some reducing rings.
