a majority of the funds for the plate go to Kyle Petty's Victory Junction Gang Camp so my wife and I got consecutive plates, both for Jr. My 4 yr old dghtr is a big fan of Jr. as well....

would blow her away if I was able to get pit passes and a long lens and show her some pics I took. Dare to dream.

is the Green Flag Busch Race. Very cool shot, good DOF, and gives you the feel of sitting in the seats. I wanted to make the California race but was working. I'd like to go to the Vegas race, but the following weekend I'm going to Spring Training in AZ.:)
I've added about 17 more pics to my NASCAR gallery if anyone is
interested in looking. All photo's were taken with the Bigma except
2 (tires & texaco pit crew). Thanks for looking, comments welcomed.

Thanks Zach, i like that one too. My favorite has to be Biffle donuts. Just because he's my driver and i am soooooo far away from the start finish line. I said to my wife i'm gonna try to get him spinning his donuts and i cranked off 3 or 4 pics with all the people leaving the stands and whatnot i figured they'd be blurry but they look pretty good. 500mm. handheld with the Bigma with 100's of people running down the stands and being about a mile away LOL i am well pleased. It doesnt get any better than that...for me at least.

Should be a great race this weekend, Vegas is a nice track.

That sucks!!
Nascar is good only for the wrecks. I like them crunching-out.
The more cars, the better.

Nice pics. ;-)

No crashes that day Joe LOL. Michigan isnt a good track to see crashes. Big and wide open racing. Talledega on the other hand you would get some great crash pics.
Nice pics. ;-)

Theres been alot of discussion that the 350D would make a better action camera since you have selective AI servo which might be true for photographing sports like football where you need to track a player.

But in car racing where you know exactly where the car is going to be than it seems like AI focus would be all you need. Your Nascar photos seems to prove that.

I had no problems. I'd lock onto them coming out of turn 4 and pan till they came by the start finish line......granted it was only about a 2 seconds it seemed but it didnt go off of them or search. Those cars are mighty fast, i didnt get every shot i wanted but hey its digital just delete :-)

every time an oppurtunity has come about to go to Pocono something else has already been scheduled. I have been to Dover a bunch of times, always been around the start of the front straight and love going.

I work in advanced auto collections for one of "the big 3" automakers and was talking NASCAR with one of my repo agents in TN that is close to Bristol and they mentioned about getting me a ticket or 2 and allowing use of their camper since motels are hard to come by but it would be conflict of interest and don't want to get into hot water at work.... the owner of the repo agency (and the main repo driver) used to be a mechanic for "fireball" roberts back in the old day of NASCAR and the wife was a female drag racer back when Shirley Muldowney was first hitting the scene and routinely went up against her....

Friends of mine always seem to have connections and get free tickets to Pocono but every time after the race they would say they wouldn't go back since seeing the whole track is difficult. My college roommate lives about 1/2 hr from the track and does open track days on his motorcycle up there. It's about 2 hours from my place in the Philly area.

Yep, i've heard the same thing about Pocono. Guess we'll stick with Michigan for now. I hear Bristol is a hard ticket to get?

Cool story. Thanks for replying.

I dont know if you spend much time in Oil Creek State Park but i've been watching a pair of bald eagles for about 4 years now around the Miller Farm area. There's another active pair in Oleopolis that you can see the nest from the road but its a long ways off. I spend most of my summer in the park, maybe we can do some shooting sometime. If spring ever gets here.......

I really miss the Michigan CART race way back-when. It's a beautiful track
and Tony George screwed it all up by spliting up CART to create the
IRL ("Idiots Racing League"). That was REAL racing back then... I was
gonna be there until it (CART) all fell apart. Too bad.
