Help-TTL Cable E-10 & FL 40

I have the E-10, the FL-40 Flash. and the FK-BK01 Flash Bracket. I am totallt lost as to which Oly Sync Cable will give me TTL auto when the flash is mounted on the bracket. Help Please!!!!--Tim Kriebel

Youc an either get the Oly cable but you are better off getting the Canon cord as it is much longer.

Tim,

You may not believe this at first, but the flash extension cord to get is the Canon (yes, Canon) Off-Camera Shoe Cord 2. Its pin configuration is the same as the FL-40 flash and the E-10's hotshoe. I and others here are using this flash cord with no problems.

Paul...are you telling me that it (canon cord) operates fully auto in ttl mode????? Because that's what I want...(sorry, but I'm new at this)

Hello Tim.

I'm using FL-40 with FK-BK01 bracket. You need hot-shoe cable FC-CB02 or TTL-TTL cable FC-CB01 to connect camera to bracket. Below are links to site, where you can get it. I didn't buy from these guys, but I've heard that they are pretty reliable.

yes the canon cord will allow full TTL. The canon cord has the same connectors so it works fine and it is longer

Like i said jump over to davids site he has it all explained with pictures part numbers for both cables and everything

Don't worry about asking lots of questions, we all do that. Just wait till you see all the Photoshop questions I'll be posting here .

Yes, you get full auto flash TTL with the Canon cord. The FL-40 flash head goes from wide angle to tele and back as you zoom the lens.

The one thing of which to be aware is to FIRMLY attach the cord to the E-10's hot shoe and to the bottom of the flash. If you don't push the connections in all the way is, the flash won't work.

Also, be sure the camera and flash are both OFF when you attach the extension cord. The E-10 and FL-40 will "go to sleep" after X amount of time to conserve power, so be sure the power switches on both are phyically turned to the "off" position.

I know that the FL-CB01 will not work...the connector that goes to the E-10 is incompatible....but are you sure that the FC-CB02 will allow full TTL-Auto mode???

In summary the FL-CB01 will not work as you have said.

The FL-CB02 will work. It is a hot shoe extension so as far as the camera is concerned the flash is mounted right on the hot shoe. So all functions will work.

It works for me - there is no difference whatsoever between flash-on-the-camera and flash-on-the-bracket(with FL-CB02).
