I have one really annoying dust spot at the top left part of every picture. Tried to clean it Sensor Brush, it did a great job of removing all other specs that I've had, but this one still exist. Also tried Eclipse - no luck. Makes me wonder - is that dust spec or stuck pixel on CMOS?

as long as you have tried different lenses and it's still there. I had the same problem. One really big blob! Send it in and now it's as clean as can be. Instructions for sending it in are on the Canon website. I sent mine in to the NJ service center along with pictures and exact location of the problem. It took 2 or 3 weeks. Get it taken care of.

I had a number of dust particles which came with the camera and couldn't be removed.

They turned out to be dust under the low pass filter set. They tend to look much more sharply defined than the dust on top.

if you can document that they came with the camera, Canon will clean it for free.

If it's under warranty (within one year of purchase) it's free.

Thank yo all for replies. I'll try to take it to service centre in Misussagua, although I wasn't impessed with their level of experties in the past.

Anyone know the charge?

Thanks, Charlie

Glen:

I may have two spots under the filter. Are you saying that Canon fixed that for you?

I had about 5, they fixed it for me by replacing the low pass filter and left me with 2 new ones. (They don't have clean room conditions in Irvine it appears). I am currently negotiating with the Dealer to return the camera since Canon can't fix it.

You can call to confirm, but Canon does not charge for sensor cleaning.
Thanks, Charlie

I have not had to clean my D60 sensor very often, but I had a similar problem. I had a speck (a BIG one) that I just could not remove with the usual Eclipse/Pec Pad - Copperhill procedure. I finally decided to try cleaning by swiping across the short axis rather than the long way on the sensor. This picked off the offending dust on the first try. I did one final cleaning process using the long axis strokes and ended up with a perfectly clean sensor.

Try cleaning your sensor from different angles. you may find one that manages to catch the offending dust and solves your problem.
