KM D7D - and a truckload of fun (pics)

cool photos
Just got back from Yunnan province of China not too long ago. Took
my 7D, Dynax 5 and a couple inexpensive lens I already got (the
Tamron 28- 300 LD and a Tokina 17mm prime) and had a truckload of
fun with them (although I missed my A2 at times when trekking
uphill in high altitude with the weighty D7D, film camera and lens).

Would like to share some of the shots I took there. Comemnts welcome.

I loved the photos and sure understand the weight issue as I backpack with mine......

However can you please tell me what the "Composition" setting was and where that switch iis on your D7 as my photos are nowhere near as well composed.

I must have a faulty camera I think!!!!!

Spectacular images. Thanks for sharing.
You make the 7D look reeeeeally good. :-)

G'day Gus. I'd have to say that your post really stands out among many that we see, and there are plenty of good ones. I'll bet you had a hard time choosing what to put in this thread and what to leave behind. Hope to see more. Are you assembling a publicly viewable gallery with more shots from your trip, or is that where these ones were from?

Guslee,

Amazing pictures... its pictures like yours that keep my faith up. For some reason I'm just not getting the same sharpness/brilliance from my Tamron 28-300 lens that you are. I've had the D7 sent back to KM and they did indeed say it was out of alignment and they corrected the focus. I'm going to send the lens back to tamron as soon as my rebate check comes back and I buy another lens (most likely the 50mm f2.8 macro), so that I at least have something other than just the 17-35 tamron, which does indeed take great pics.

But back to subject... Awesome work, keep it up.

Scott

The Gates of New York, and the Phoenix 2005 (in USA Travels) are pics taken with the D7 since it was returned from Alignment.

Agreed - I would be very interested to see the full album!

ps - The more I look at the pics the more I like the last one. The 'human scale' factor is very effective and makes the picture very dramatic!

KM7D - fantastic!!! :)

Many thanks for the kind words. While my photos are not really doing the D7D nor the places I visited justice, it is still my greatest pleasure to share with you what I captured in Yunnan, China recently. Here is the link:

http://360.smugmug.com/Travel/62879

There are 8 sub-galleries altogether (totaling some 500 photos from this nine-day trip. I am still aiming for quanity before quality at this stage). So please bear with me and just skip over the boring stuff.

One thing about these shots is that all of them were taken handheld, be they indoor shots with little light or early dawn ones. I must say I am very pleased with my D7D and the anti-shake feature.

Happy shooting.
