Just got back from Yunnan province of China not too long ago. Took my 7D, Dynax 5 and a couple inexpensive lens I already got (the Tamron 28- 300 LD and a Tokina 17mm prime) and had a truckload of fun with them (although I missed my A2 at times when trekking uphill in high altitude with the weighty D7D, film camera and lens).

Would like to share some of the shots I took there. Comemnts welcome.

Many thanks for your comments.

China has such diversity that I think I will always be able to find something interesting to take pictures if there.

One obsevation I have from a few recent visits is that there are many ethnic minorities within China. And their customs, culture, dress and way of life are all very well preserved. This to me is a gold mine for photo opportunities.

Wow.

'Da' is Mandarin for large or big. At 6' 2' and 220 lbs, I am; at least in China.

Great pics - which ones were film and which were the 7D ;?
The second one is from film. (I need the wide angle. Hence film - without the 1.5 factor). The rest are all D7D with very modest lens ( I am still saving to get good glass. This would take a while.....sigh.. ).

Gus

Your composition is fantastic.
We all would like to see more of your work
on this forum !

Gus,

That's one great thing about this forum: I get to see new places in the world a bit more often than my wallet allows.

Those are magnificent shots! Kudos to you as the photographer and great to see another example of the 7D's potential in the right hands.

It is a nice camera, but as we say in flyfishing: it's not the fly, it's the driver... ;-)

2, 3, 5, 7 and 8 are just brilliant - the sort of shots I'd expect to find in a quality publication - all are good.

Thank you for sharing them Gus!
