tired gorilla resting on tree

Great photo. I have never been able to get such a close up photo of a gorilla at the local L.A. Zoo, even with my 280 MM equiv. lens.

Interesting fact about gorillas. They DO NOT like people staring at them. In fact I once had a gorilla pick up a clump of grass and throw it at it's admirers!

Great shots - the best !

otoh So sad they spend their lives behind bars! Their outlook on life is different and maybe superior to mine. If we could only teach them the rudiments of simple speech, their views would surely enhance our lives.

I read somewhere their DNA is at least 95% equivalent to ours/mine. They appear bright and 'normal', whatever 'normal' might mean.

Despite all the unemployment, I wonder whether it would not be politically correct 'to set them free' so as to spend the time to train and eventually 'hire' those gorilla cum people to help with simpler tasks around the house - so long as we pay them a decent wage by way of good food, creature comforts and a better life style .. just an idea.
