For all you die hard Nikon lovers - READ THIS AND WAKE UP

Hello,
I was a Nikon shooter for more than 20 years. I started out with
Canon as student, back in late 70's but switched to Nikon just a
few years after Canon introduced their flagship F1n with a 6volt
battery. Now Iam back with Canon for obvious reasons, from 2003. I
would liek you all to read this posting from a much serious forum
than this one, with all due respect to dpreview, but
it seems that dpreview attracts much more time wasters and
non-pros, whose only concern is whether their lens resloves 69 or
70 lines/mm and so on.

I shoot anything that moves.

Alex,

I read the link, and ... So what? It is a "more professional forum," eh? Is that because you got it off of the "Professional Digital Camera Discussion" Under the "Canon EOS-1Ds/EOS-1Ds Mark II" section?

Sure,... anyway I bet if I went to nikonians.org I'd find just as many "professionals" ready to tell me how wonderful of a decision I'd made for deciding on Nikon over Canon. I would expect that section of that forum to say exactly what was said.

In the last year, about half of my work has been with the Nikon D70, the rest are Canon 1Ds, Canon 20D, or Fuji S2 Pro. The D70 is an extension of my right hand, my Fuji S2 "back-up" is good quality (except for a consistent magenta cast to skin tones) but too slow, the Canons belong to my father and he has great L series lenses, but for me the cameras are not easy to work with. Even though I've done about 4 jobs with each camera, I still don't like the ergonomics, interface, or flash systems.

So how is that? I'm a "professional" who gets paid lots of dough per hour (including post-processing) to shoot with a D70. Why? It works for me. All of these cameras are tools. That's it, nothing more. The 1Ds and the 20D both produce stunning images. I know, I've used them! I don't bash them as being "obsolete," "poorly" designed," etc. But FOR ME they aren't intuitive or desinged well.

So Alex, go enjoy your system, and I'll love mine! Meanwhile I'll wait for a D200 or a $4000 or lower D2x. Why? Can't I afford it now? Sure I could, but my D70 is an appropriate TOOL for most of my work, and I'm not going to get another tool until the costs and needs are balanced.

Carry on!

Stephen

Im having too much fun with my D 100 to worry about what camera comes next

It's people like you that give Canon and the Canon forum a bad name. This is especially bad for the vast majority of fine photographers who choose Canon. Because of you and the other Canon Trolls, if anyone mentions Canon in non-Canon forums, it raises hackles. People who are merely trying to have a resonable conversation or to choose between Canon and other camera brands are immediately labeled as "Trolls". YOU are the cause.

You are with Canon NOT because you want to take good pics, but because you like to have what you think is a "Hot camera". Go back to your Troll Hole and play with your Canon or whatever hot toy that builds up your ego.

Have nice day!

I never claimed to be a "pro" like you are claiming yourself to be. The shots on my pbase "website" are nothing more than a collection of personal memories I've collected over the years. So, Alex, let's see some of your world class pro work. So, let's see what You got, bigshot! You haven't got the b@lls, do you? You, my "friend" are just another in a loooooog line of effing internet trolls, who continue to come here to stir up trouble, and I'm sorry I fell for your trap. So, to you I say please, AMF!
I was stuuned and couldn't believe myself when I visited your lame
website.

The obvious reason is just one. I am a professional photographer
and Nikon has fallen far behind
canon in Digital. Nikon couldn't develop decent AF for years, and
the list goes on. I am not in any way a Canon lover, and the switch
to it cost me much more than to stay with Nikon and upgrade and
wait and pray they develop a decent DSLR for pro use, which they
probably never will, and will always be behind Canon because
something, and I won't elaborate what, has changed within Nikon
from 80's on, when they introduced an F3, whic was a lousy camera,
then an F4, even worse, and only did they come close with F5, but
the DIGITAl already took over and.......I can go on for hours.
Think about it.

I use Canon and Nikon and I call this post Bullsh!t.

There are plenty of amatuers on Rob's site too.

Canon's ergos and flash are not NEARLY as good as Nikon's D2 series.

Other than that, I use Canon digital because of full frame and image quality.

If and when Nikon puts out what I need, I would consider a switch back. RIght now, they just don't have it.

Give me a BREAK!!

No insults, no stupid look-this-bird-rest shots or my last-week-end-shots. Yes, probably pros that dont waste time in writing "my dove has a headache" and a bunch of ..... answering to that.

Nice.

O.K. B/S man, lets see some of that "Professional" work that decides the F3 F4 and F5 were not up to your high and mighty standards.

I have a pretty good idea that I could shoot tight circles around you with my click and wind FM3A.

If I showerd you my work, and I don't see why should I, since you are not showng yours either, you would probably abandon photography as a hobby and get to something more simple, like bird watching or gardening, you impotent wimp!

All other replies to my post, which was not in any way meant to be insulting to Nikon users, just a notice on how Nikon has fallen far behind in digital, just proves what was discussed in some previous posts that Nikon users are a die hard idiots and I am glad I don't belong there anymore.

Forgive me if I read wrong, but that thread was about leaving Kodak, wasn't it?

I'm thrilled that the switchers are happy. I'm even happier shooting with the ergonomics of my Nikons. I've tried each new Canon as they've been introduced (which is no mean feat at the rate they churn their product line!) and still have yet to find one I like, though the 20D is probably the closest yet.

To each their own.

Nooo... WE are GLAD you don't belong here anymore.

By the way, if you showed your "super-extra" work, as you imply, on a screen, I don't understand where the Canon would be of any help.

Your conceptions are wrong. I'm also feeling bad for the Canon forum community members who will have to share with you now...

Go back to that other site and show them the link to this post. You will show them that Nikon is ALIVE and WELL.

Did you actually think you we're coming here with some great news? Did you actually think we'd go like "whooo... thanks man!" ..... Pathetic....
