To those who've had their 300D's for some time now, how real is the 50,000-shutter-releases life expectancy thing?

Has anyone gone beyond 50k (which I'll probably surpass in about 18 months time--have had my 300d for 6 months now)?

Any repairs/replacements at the or past the 50k mark? Under warranty/not/how much did it cost?

2100 clicks a month is quit a lot, but then i haven't been through a summer yet, i'm half that in winter thus far. i slowed down a bit lately.

think of it this way. @ 50K clicks @ $950 = 2c per click. not to mention enjoyment, exercise etc.

wish my car got that kind of economy, it costs 10c per click.

i'd be happy with 50K clicks before having to pay for a repair.

I'm sort of curious about those whos 300D's are "getting up there" in cycles, too. I have about 17K cycles now.

For me, 2100 a month nothing, since I use my 300D to shoot for money. Just this afternoon I will probably shoot 500-800 shots for a theatre.

Yup, same deal with me, about 500 shots easy a day, about 4 days a week. Part of it is because I double-tap a lot. Not sure if I should change my shooting habits.

I'm pretty sure someone out there has gone beyond 50K--your inputs would be appreciated.

FiEND has a good point though...which makes me curious, what's the warranty like on the pro cameras?

Simple question : Are you doing your own calculations when stating your shutter cycles or is there somthing specific on the camera that tells you the number of clicks. Thanks

Doing my own calculations. Filenames help of course.

daniella went past 80k (or somewhere around there), with the second shutter - the first failed on her at around 10k.

mine is at 9k in a year and a half. i really REALLY shoud go out and shoot. you've made me angry at myself now (which is good, btw)!

Nekdo je moral Josefa K. o'crniti, zakaj ne da bi bil storil kaj slabega, so ga nekega jutra prijeli.

My shutter died after 3800 shots and 6months. Now at 5600shots and praying ...

Same here. A year and about a month - about 35K clicks, no problems so far. I think Daniella probably has more on her 300D than anybody on here. Seems like I remember her saying over 80K.......could be wrong though.

I bought the camera used, so who knows how many clicks it had gone through before (forgot to ask the previous owner). I'm at about 35 000 clicks myself after five months of use. I've had a couple random err99 messages during that time, but they always cleared themselves when I switched the camera off and back on again, so I have no idea what they were about. basically working fine.

and a wedding photographer mentioned he'd got 70k+ before getting problems.

With 5600shots (6069 today !!) you can see that I don't like burst mode .. I prefer think about taking which photos than taking a burst. Give me less work to post-proc them and use less my delicate 300d shutter
