I think that SD10 can do very nice against 8 mp models.
With a small pano for still life subjects you beat everything.

I would rather wait more to have a super 6mpx3 that works better than sd10 than a hurry one model with bugs like other manufactures do.

To build up the D200 reputation...btw, isn't the d100 is very long long long on the tooth by now?...how long has it been? 5 years?
Anyone been there? Give us a report!
No SD11 body. The spokesmodels are having a hard time keeping a
straight face when they point at the SD9 & SD10

Yes,

It's interesting. Minolta seems to introduce a model every time the engineers think of somthing different. Canon is on a very regular schedule. Nikon and everyone else is having trouble keeping pace.

I do agree that releasing a product before it is ready is often foolish. Look at the Fuji S3. They released it last year, and couldn't ship it for several months. By the time it was actually released, it seemed dated.

I too would rather them get it right, then announce it early.

and they don't need a major show to announce a camera anyway, but it makes it more fun.

I think it depends. If you are Canon and announce a significant new model bi-annually or so, then it makes sense to speak softly and let your stick do the talking. If you haven't had a major upgrade in years, some sort of statement like, "don't bury me, I'm still alive" could be appropriate.

Well, unless you are dead.
