I dropped my flash and the latch on one side of the shoe of the flash is broken. Does anyone know if there is a do-it-yourself fix for this? Thanks a bunch in advance.

Try calling Canon... they may sell the part.

I did the same thing with my Sigma flash and was able to purchase the replacement part for $10 from Sigma's repair department.

Same thing happened to me with the 420EX (on Christmas day no less!). Tried super-glue but no good as the hotshoe takes so much stress.

Managed to get a replacement foot from a Canon authorised dealer (just surfed for one in the UK that did Canon parts) for about £10. Was easy enough to fix myself with a small screw driver, a steady hand and a bit of patience. Just make sure you note where things go as you take it to bits.

Good luck,
Andrew
