I'm having a problem with my C-5050. There's purple vertical edges on all the pictures I take. The problem occurred today. Has anyone else here had similar problems with this model? Any ideas about what's wrong?

Here's a picture (never mind the funny face, look at the vertical edges):

Sigurd,

... seen anything like that.

I hope someone else will have a clue and be able to help you.

It looks like some sort of blooming issue to me though. I can't inagine what would cause it though.

Good Luck,

No, the horizontals are not supposed to curve down. Thanks for pointing that out. Typically, this problem occurred about one week after the warranty expired.

Thanks for the replies. If anyone knows what the problem might be, I would appreciate some input.
... but it looks like the purple lines are the least of your
worries, unless those horizontals are supposed to curve down at the
edges....

I am not a Rocket Scientist - but I think something has gone wrong with the camera!!! (Gasp, he's amazing!!) I have never seen anything like that in the world of Digi.

I can only make educated guesses all of which would lead to sending it away for examination/repair. Maybe if you tried a grovelly letter to Oly they might take pity - especially if you mention you have tried asking on this Forum and other Oly owners have suggested returning it and are all interested to hear how Oly respond (get my drift). I am so sorry this has happened - if it were a basic camera I'd say replace it and put it down to experience - but it's a pretty nice piece of equipment.
Good luck - give em a call
Geoff

I have a C-5050 and of course I have never seen that "effect" I can't imagine what it is, but let us know if you find out.

I just sent in my C-5050 for the mode dial that got cracked and ripped off - circuits were showing. Cost about 1270 Kr ($199 USD), but it is a great camera. Hard to lose it. I now have the 8080 and the 5050 - it broke 3 days before Christmas so of course I couldn't wait for the repairs. I got it repaired and waiting to decide what to do with it. Both are great cameras.

No, I haven't exposed to direct sunlight much. I'm aware that it can be a problem, so I've just been doing it occationally. Can't think of anything I've done to provoke this, as I'm very gentle with my equipment. Frustrating:-(
nah, just kidding. I'd say your chip's blown, have you had it
exposed to direct sunlight a lot?

Hope they can fix it for you, good luck!
