On my Canon i950, my last 5 prints of 8.5 x 11 bordless pictures that have a lots of the same color (blue sky or water, for example) are coming out with some banding at the last inch in the right end.

I have used the printr for 3 months and I've not changed type of paper or inks.

Any clue?

TIA.

If the paper has a moderately shiny backside, when it gets to the last inch, it loses contact with the rear rollers, and begins to slip just a tiny bit, but enought to cause this effect...My i9100 does this with Ilfords smooth gloss, which has a fairly slick reverse...When I print using it, I tape a sheet of plain paper to it's backside with @2" sticking out...this completely solved the problem for me...Otherwise...call...1-757-413-2848...; ))...Frank

Frank,

Same problem here with my Canon S9000 and S900 ... almost always with glossy paper.

It is definitely a paper feed issue. In fact, I can hear when the paper is slipping and know that there will be some banding along the back right side.

Your solution sounds interesting and I may give it a try. How do you tape the paper? I assume the extra 2 inches sticks out at the top, but where do you apply the tape?

I mostly use matte paper and Illford Classic Pearl, neither of which seem to have this problem. I mainly see it when I use PPP or OD glossy ... maybe every third time I use either of these. With the S9000, it's always on 8.5 X 11. Doesn't seem to happen with 11X17 or 13X19.

tape it flush with the right side of the paper sticking up @2" a 3 or 4" strip of tape on the bottom of the plain paper works fine...after printing, it lifts right off the slick back of the photo paper...neatest trick I've personally devised since I discovered baggies at 15...; )))....Frank

A 2" Post-It sticky note projecting from the underside of the upper right corner of the photo paper is another quick and easy way to do it. Really works well.

...this method that I have used successfully
with my S9000 and certain glossy papers:

Use something to support the print as it
emerges from the printer (I use a 1-inch
binder). I think this relieves the "downward"
stress on the paper which increases as
more of the print comes out of the printer.

This has been the easiest / hassle-free method
I have found since I started using OD PHG paper.

I thought this was worth bumping back to the forefront.

I've been trying the Epson Colorlife paper on my R300 and kept getting banding in the last half inch or so. After pretty exhaustive searching, I found this fix, which worked perfectly.

If anyone knows of a different, more practical fix, I'd be very glad to hear it.

I have been fighting this problem since July of last year with my HP printers. Now I have a Canon pixma 5000 and fighting the same issue. I will try some of these tonight and see if these will fix my issues. I am using HP PPP and Epson PGPP. I have not bought any Canon PPP yet.
