CD/DVD Labels

Col, I agree with all your comments, yes, great care must be exercised with the CD tray,it is of very flimsy design, the centre retaining clips are of particular concern,I will consider modification in this area when it finally gives problems.overall I am very pleased with the CD printing, bearing in mind the low initial cost of this printer. I run a JLW cif ink system on this printer so ink consumption is not a great issue.
Merry Xmas to all.
Or right click a file "open with" Epson CD print. Myself I save all
labels as .BMP and associate this file type with the Epson software
a route which is very quick and allows for multiple instances of
the software to be opened up just by clicking files within my
"labels" folder. Like other posters have stated, I also find the
colours to be less satisfying than quality stick ons, but have hit
a compromise by adjusting the colour and contrast controls and
saving as a user defined setting. After several months of hard use
I find the CD tray on the R200 needs a bit of assistance to feed
into the printer and the fine plastic tabs on the leading edge need
occasional straightening, anyone else have this problem? I find it
a bit slow and thirsty for paper so for this I still use my old 880.

Hi Frank, is this a bulk ink system, if so do you have a link?
Thanks Col.

I was very surprised when I printed a photo on the Epson R200. I bought it just for the DVD/CD printing since it was under $100. I also have a Canon i960 which is outstanding. I decided one day to print a photo on good quality photo paper to compare it to the Canon and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Not that I expected it to be bad at printing photos, I just did not expect it to be as good as it was. The Canon is still better, but the Epson does a wonderfull job.

Happy Holidays
Jason
Jason,

Thanks for the info.

Right now I have two printers (was three, but gave one away). Canon
S9000 and Epson 780. Just can't justify another printer for doing
label on cd/dvd. But it sounds like that would be the way to go.

How is your printer on photo's?

Mike

Thanks Frank, I like the idea of that!

Col,I am very pleased with this system for my R200 Epson, had it about 8 weeks, worked straight out of the box,no problems-------yet.I have been reading threads of all the problems people are having with other CIF systems, even one poster is trying to build his own using bits from here and there,I cannot understand people seeming to ignore the JLW system as it is also the cheapest system and the feedback is great, only one poster had a problem, they sent him a new system. My guess is people don't like buying from Ebay, feel free to email me for more info,or post here,Im a regular (addicted, twice a day)

Hi, how does status monitor report back on never emptying cartridges? It is my understanding that the ink level reports are based on a counter tally rather than actual ink usage, so does a bulk system eventually report back as empties regardless and await a cartridge change or reset?
Thanks Col.

Col,According to the information on the ebay site ,quote "unit does not require chip ressetter nor removal from the printer" I have not used a full supply of ink yet,but have noticed that the ink level report has shown lowered ink levels,I am not much worried as I can always remove and replace ink cart set if I have to.only takes a few seconds.

Thanks for the info. BTW have you tried this utility, amongst other things it will reset ink levels and counters should you need to. Even recovered my 880 from general protection. link http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

Col.My printer is still performing faultlessly with the JLW cif system,I was away for a week (printer turned off) when I returned it printed perfectly first time (suprise, suprise) the chip ressetter works fine,it just goes down to about 20% then the next time you look it is at 100%,am contemplating another R200 with the pigment ink version of the JLW cif.

I use high end DVD media (Ritek RiData Branded) inkjet printable
with an Epson R200 printer, I print directly on my DVD's and it
works amazingly well.

Highly recommended.

Mike wrote:> > Does it hurt cd or dvd to use stick on labels?
If it does how does everyone label their cd and dvd?

Mike
Yeah they can make a horrible noise when put in pc with labels on ,not as smart as printing direct on printable cds

I brought a Canon ip 3000 just for printing on cds directly nothing else, good cheap one easy to use ,

Thanks for the update, recon I will get one soon.

Try bulk ink kit from InkRepublic.com
They have excellent design of spongeless cartridges and chipset.

Many existing CIS makers reset ink level to 100% which wastes you about 2ml ink on cleaning. Whenever the ink level goes up to 100%, printer does the cleaning job and uses "ink" to clean nozzle. In a long run, you actually waste more money.

Inkrepublic.com's chipset is designed to reset chipset not to "100%" but less than 100%. the more you print, the more you save from their system.

I have seen many people are more than happy to use their solution for R200, R200, R800 their ink.
