Noise Ninja is DA BOMB!

I've used both, and Noise Ninja is superior because NeatImage is SLOW. Noise Ninja does the same job in a fraction of the time.

The problem with this test is that products change, and it is difficult to keep up. Yes, NoiseNinja 1.0 gave better results than NeatImage 2.5 - that's what the tests indicate.

However, the current version of NeatImage, 4.4, is also dramatically better than the version tested. I bet the current version of NoiseNinja, 2.1, is also quite a bit better than the version tested.

These applications tend to leapfrog each other. Typically, the one with the latest release date is the best. Also, it is worthwhile to learn the idiosyncracies of the tool you have, whichever it is. Often, you can obtain superior results with a slightly inferior tool that you know, than with a fantastic tool that you've never used before. To an extent, these idiosyncracies, in part an expression of the developers ideas and perspective, transcend multiple releases.

At least, I keep telling myself that, so I won't feel quite so much of a need to rush out and get the latest and greatest tool on the net to replace the one I currently have. ;-)

How about Noiseware by Imagenomic?
http://www.imagenomic.com/see.asp

I've seen good things posted about it elseware. Comes in standalone and plug-in versions, including a free "community" version.
The advanced versions have an interesting sounding feature:

"Intelligent. Noiseware continuously perfects its processing quality. Every time you filter an image, Noiseware learns more about your own camera or image acquisition device."

I'm downloading to try.
IMHO, just slightly better than Neat Image. :b

I installed the free version yesterday for the first time. I was impressed with the results. I'll play with it for a week or so so that I can grow more familiar with it. While I'm at it, I might as well examine NeatImage as well. Eventually I will buy one or the other....

In my short time with Noise Ninja, I'm very impressed.

Best, Keefe.
best $80 I have ever spent
