Can anyone help me out with the cost of ink per any given sheet size. I've only had my 4000 a short time and need to figure my costs for certain jobs. An approximation would be fine. Down the road I'll be able to figure my own costs but right now I can't. Thanks.

Epson 4000 Printer Utility 2 (Mac - I don't know the name on the PC) has a tab for information on your last 10 print jobs which records the volume of ink used and amount of paper for each job.

This info exists here. Do a search and I think you should find it. I found a link to Inkjetart's website that actually has an excel spreadsheet that you can download and use that already has built in ink usage numbers. Looking at my spreadsheet I have a number like 0.011 mL/in^2. Which works out to about 3.5 mL per 16 x 20. I have not confirmed that number.

If you can't find the spreadsheet, I'll email it to you.

If you're interested in actual dollar amounts, we figure that an 8x10 on LexJet Pro Semi-Matte was running about $1.10 each. We were running about 200 units per wekk at that time. It slowed down in December and we switched to Ilford Smooth Pearl. Running a lower volume on the new paper bumped us to about $1.30 per unit.

I expect that the actual figure is somewhere between $1.00 and $1.50 per 8x10 depending on volume, ink cart size (we use the 220) and paper choices.

Hi Shad,

I am interested in the link or the spreadsheet for the Espon 2200. I got a feeling that I am not charging enough for the print my make on the printer now. Thanks in advance!

Alan,

The spreadsheet only dealt with 9600/7600/4000 printers and probably doesn't scale directly to the 2200. But it might be a start.

Check this out though:
http://www.inkjetart.com/pro/7600_9600/cost_page.html
and

Scroll to the bottom for the Excel Spreadsheet.

Check your manual on how to print the job log. It'll tell you exactly how much ink was used for the last 10 jobs printed. Then caculating costs will be up to you because it'll depend on how much you're paying. Say you're buying 220s at $110 each. That's 50 cents per ml printed. If you do an 8x10 that uses 1.5ml, your ink costs are 75 cents.

Don't ever pay $110 for 220! Look at: http://www.lexjet.com

The 220 carts are $84.

I used $110 because I'm lazy and it was easier on the math :) I think $112 is list price. I bought my 220s from http://www.atlex.com and I think they were about $86 or so.
