I have been using the CoolPix 950 for years and it is my workhorse.
I take lots of shots of my hiking group, the Morrisville Ale &
Trail Association and I post the images on my website, "Triangle
Unfinished Travels". The images are usually reduced to 320 pixels
wide and so the higher res cameras aren't necessary for that.
However, whenever I want to make 3.5X5" or even 8X10" prints I get
acceptable quality from the CP950.
If you are used to using the filters, go for it. I have done some
work on infrared photography and needed two adapters to attach the
Nikon gelatin filter holder AF-1 to the CP950, 28mm to 37mm (my
videocam uses 37mm and I had an assortment of filters and lenses
from that), and 37mm to 52mm (AF-1). You should know that the
CP950 is uniquely capable of ir photography. Nikon inserted an ir
filter into the lens train in subsequent cameras making them
insensitive to ir. You may have to start by getting the 28mm to
37mm adapter available from CKC Power (
http://www.ckcpower.com ).
If you want to pursue ir photography, look into Eric Cheng's
articles in PEI (that's Photo Electronic Imaging) magazine or check
out his website at
http://www.echeng.com/digital_photo/infrared.html . He has created
some cool looking images. Try it.

I'm getting a Coolpix 950 delivered in a few days!
I've always used filters and I have tons of them... they are all
49mm though
So instead of buying all new 28mm filters which seem really hard to
find, is there a way I can buy an adapter type thing or a step up
to use all my 49mm filters?
I'm so new at this so I don't know what is out there to do this!
I'd appreciate any help
Thank you!
