Is $300 a good deal on PSHOP CS?

Use irfanview3.95 (free) and install the plug-in's
and enjoy the trip...

If it's from anything other than a full version then $300 is OK, though once in a while I think it's turned up at $249 (but don't hold your breath waiting for another offer).

BTW you can get Elements 3 with a $20 rebate IF you have an older version of Elements itself or certain other apps. That means a nett $80 for the CD-ROM or $70 for the download. Note that you'll need to go through the formality of registering the earlier product if you've not already done so:

"Purchase before February 28, 2005, and save US$20 instantly off the standard retail price of US$99.99. This offer is available for registered owners of previous versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements, Photoshop Album, Photoshop LE or PhotoDeluxe only. You must enter your qualifying serial number below in order to purchase."

If you've a legal older FULL version (and it doesn't matter how old) of Photoshop then the upgrade to CS is only $169, so if you do happen to have one then you're cooking. You can occasionally purchase an old version from a wound-up business, deceased estate, etc., so keep this option in mind:

"Adobe Photoshop CS Upgrade [$169]

"To install upgrade successfully, you will need a licensed version of Photoshop 7.0 or earlier on the same platform as this purchase. NOTE: Upgrade does not apply to Photoshop Elements, Photoshop Album, Photoshop Limited Edition, or PhotoDeluxe licensed users."
I recently got an upgrade certificate in the mail offering me
Photoshop CS for $300. Is this worth it versus Photoshop Elements
3.0 for $99?

Or does this mean a new version of Photoshop is about to appear?

Thanks in advance...Keith

Photoshop Elements 3.0, just $49.99 after $20 rebate:

I agree with Mike, if you have a legal Full previous version of Photoshop (not Elements), you can buy an upgrade version for something like $169.

The cheapest photoshop CS online is $99. And someone introduced a free software to me and they said it's as useful and comparable as the major editing softwares (esp photoshop). They software is called GIMP. Just type GIMP on google search and you will be able to find the download linkage, updates and additionals. Here is the .org address:
http://www.gimp.org/

Please let me know how good it is if you have a chance to exlpore an/or try it. I am learning the free trial version paintshop pro now since I am a newbie and I am looking for something easier to learn and use.

Honestly Keith, for $300 it's a complete rip-off.

You can get PSP9 for $100, and as far as I'm concerned, it's truly better software. I know I get hammered for this, but I can tell you, I've tried them both, and it's highway robbery to spend that much on PSCS... unless of course you're on a Mac...

I have them both... but PSCS never gets used.

PSP isn't available for the Mac platform, and since PSP is the only alternative app that comes really close to Photoshop in capability, that pretty well leaves you with a choice of one for heavy Mac still image editing.

That's clearly meant to be the upgrade from an earlier full version (Windows) of Photoshop -- not PS Elements or anything else. Compare the price of the Mac upgrade above it, and the full version (also Mac) below. They've just managed to omit the "upgrade" reference.

If, OTOH, they're prepared to honour that price for the full version, then I suggest you put on your running shoes and grab it before they change their mind. Just be sure to get watertight confirmation first, before you bother placing an order.
I just saw it at OfficeDepot online for $169 and there was a $30
online rebate for orders over $150.
