I have NEVER -- flying anywhere -- had a computer, magnetic media or digital camera flash card corrupted by an airport x-ray!!!

If I were you, I would not fear for my digital film getting "fogged" by an x-ray.

However, if you are near an exploding nuclear device, electro-magnetic pulse will probably corrupt your electronics.

Having just returned from Jamaica, and Tahiti, been through ALL the airports. No problems with laptop or digital media.(CF & Smartmedia)

Scotland trip last month. Casio QV3000 went through x-ray once on the way and 4 times on the return. Not a problem at all.

The film camera is a different story. Some fogging in the film, probably because of the number of times it went through x-ray on the return portion.

Miami Airport is pretty much my second home. Spend almost as much time there as at my house . The X-Ray scanners will not create any problems for any type of magnetic media

X-rays will only affect light sensitive media ie film but airport metal detectors may be another matter. However assured at Manchester airport UK that theirs was ok

The problem I had, I was asked if I had any pornographic images on my laptop or CF card, after saying no they checked the hard drive and CF card.
I think wearing an old mac didn't help

Hey Skip,

I agree with everybody, I flew from Paris CDG to Edinburgh (UK), with a DCS, PCMCIA cards type 3 & Flash cards. Didn't have any pblm with the camera & the pics on the cards.

I've been through a few airports with my s1 pro and 1 gig microdrives. the kit has been passed through xray scanners without adverse effect. everything has worked okay on arrival. This includes Manchester airport, Dalyman in Turkey and Goa, India.
Good luck.

I always thought everybody carried such images, if only in the mind! The other big danger we are warned about is someone else collecting your stuff at the end of the X-ray tunnel. Best, Geoff.
