I just got my TwinMOS 70x 1GB today. I popped it in my 300D and... "Err 02" Which means a problem with the CF card. I can't format the card cause the error freezes up the camera. I've even tried accessing the card via cable from the PC. Haven't tried a CF card reader yet as I don't have one.

But my friend who got it for me said it worked fine when he tested it out with a 1Ds-Mark II. Hopefully I can get it formated tomorrow. I just hope that the 300D doesn't have limitations on how fast a Cf card it can handle... does it?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

TwinMOS website says that the ULTRA-X CF passed on the 300D. So I hope that just a simple format should do the trick. Will have to look for a friend with a card reader then. Thanks for the help

...and it still doesn't work!!!

I tried 1GB and 2GB versions of the 70x TwinMOS Ultra-X CF card and both didn't work. Thought it might be the Wasia hack so I reverted back to the original Canon firmware. Still no go.

Anybody want to buy a brand new hardly used 70x 1GB CF card?

Did it ever work? I bought an 80x Lexar and it didn't work at all. I kept receiving the CF error on the Rebel and my card reader would hang Windows explorer when I tried to view the content of the card. I exchanged it for another and the second worked just fine... If it doesn't work in fif computers, it sounds like a problem with the cards. Curious that two should have the problem though.

The cards will work, but the camera can not use the speed. So if it is cheaper to get a slower you can save the money. Unless you want the faster card for later or another device.

What 1Gb card do people recommend for the 300d then please...
  • Lexar or Sandisc?
  • what speed?
  • who best to buy from (assume online!) in the UK please
thanks all.

Actually, it worked on the computers, card readers, and other Canon cameras (we tried it on a 20D and even a 1Ds-Mark II)... but not on my 300D! I've tried other high speed 1GB cards from my friends and they work well in my 300D. I've tried the regular TwinMOS CF cards and they work fine too.

Dabs.com or ebuyer seem to be the best prices for the UK at the mo. Just received my Kingston Elite Pro 1GB card today, £60 delivered.
