Purchased an S75 last week (and an Epson 890 Photoprinter).
I really was excited to get a nice zoom camera with so many manual functions. I got the S75 after a lot of reading & research. I got all the accessories available for it (2 128 MB sticks, lens adapter, lens kit, 2 extra batts, external charger, Sony case, etc etc). In other words, I was convinced this would work out !
The acid test came today when I did side by side tests with my older FujiFilm camera (in fact, it's just an MX-2700 !!). I did this because the color of the pictures was bothering me (even before seeing the comments on this board).
Sure, there is somewhat higher resolution with the Sony (as opposed to the 2.3 MP Fuji)..... but the Fuji color conversion is so much better. There is entirely too much RED tone with the Sony (at least on my unit).
I have uploaded a couple of pictures (right from the camera). I printed these on the Epson 890 in 8x10 at 2880 DPI (razor sharp quality), and the Sony just looks too red right from the camera, without any post processing. The bricks around this pool are brown, not reddish !
Also note the skin tone in the picture. Any comments?
My plan is to 'HOLD' until they get it right. Man I need a good dig camera. How is the Epson 3000Z ?
Of course, your mileage may vary.
PS Darn, I wanted this to work out !! Got one of my 128M sticks mail order (not even used), and not sure I can even return it without a steep restocking fee !!!
Files too big to post, so here are the URLs. I will keep them up there for a couple days.
