Are there any plans to include a raw image converter in the next release of Photoshop? And besides Fuji Huper Utility what is available/better/best?

I read on their WEB site that it will be unofficially supported with the final release of the 2.4 plugin. 2.4 is currently in beta but the beta version does not support the S3.

You're better off with the Fuji Hyper Utility anyway. I shoot raw exclusively and have tried most of the current converters and always seem to come back to Fuji when optimum detail extraction is required. Clunky interface maybe, but still a fine tool, especially the newer version; v3.0.23. Much better than the older version released with the S2, v2.0.

Jim Bentley,

Are you talking about the Hyper Utility for the S3
I have Hyper Utility 2.3.0.23 that came with the S3 about a month ago.
How did you get version 3.0.23??

Yes. If Adobe is given what they need from Fuji, there will be support for the S3 in ACR, either when the suite ships or when the first round of updates comes along. It takes a lot longer to reverse-engineer a file format (in order to know how to support it in software), than it is to just be given the information....

Phase 1 will support the S3 in it's next update which is scheduled to be released in a few weeks.

Can you tell us some timings with RAW conversions (both with DR activated or not), like time to open a file, apply some minor tweaks and save it as tiff ?

Please include some basic info about your sistem.

Can the fuji software save RAF files as RAF or only tiff and jpg ?

Thank you for your time,

Aloha Radu.

I have the S2 at present and shoot entirely raw with it. A friend has the S3 and allowed me to play with a few RAF's from her S3. In Fuji HU the image opens in about 5 seconds on my system. Zooms in the converter are instantaneous whereas in the previous converter it took noticeable time. Adjustments to the tome curve, EV, color, sharpness etc are almost instant too. After tweaking an image it takes me 12 seconds to convert a RAF to a 16 bit 69.4MB TIF.

I have a high end Dell PC with 3.2GHz P4 hyper threading processor, 256MB video card, 2 gig RAM, etc.
