anybody else catch the mac expo keynote? jobs was showing off the new "ilife" and iphoto will support and manipulate RAW images. i know it is nowhere near the level of PS but for those who are not as comfortable with PS, what he was showing was very cool. i think the new versions of ilife start shipping later this month.

Yeah, I took notice last night. I'm very pleased with this since I'm kind of used to iPhoto. I don't think its editing capabilities for RAW will be very impressive but as a viewer and organizer yes. I hope it's not too slow with the RAWS.

If it’s looking easy it means you didn’t read the instructions manual

Has anyone found a list of RAW formats iPhoto will support? How about the D70 NEF?

Apple's website specifically mentions the D70 raw files as being compable.

Unfortunately, iPhoto5 will not apparently be a free upgrade, but must be purchased as part of iLife '05 (along with updated versions of iMovie and iDVD and Garageband).

That's good news. Here's the link:

Yeah, that's a bummer. I don't mind paying for an upgrade license from iLife 2004 but buying the software all over again isn't so hot. But hey! They know I'll do it. :-)

I actually stopped using RAW because I hated trying to organize for photoshop (using the browser). i will be quick to move back to RAW and use iPhoto. a nice thing about iPhoto is that you get all of the benefits of the organization tools and speed with which you can scan through thousands and thousands of photos, but you can also turn on external editors. so, when i double-click on an image in iPhoto it automatically opens photoshop to do the editing. when i save, it saves the version still in iPhoto and the changes are reflected instantly. love that app.
