SURVEY: Your lens with the most "POP"?

1st tier: 300 f2.8 IS, 135 f2L and 35 f1.4L
2nd tier: 85 f1.8, Canon 15mm FE, 70-200 f2.8L
3rd tier: 70-300 DO, 17-85, 100-400L, 17-40L, Tamron 28-75 f2.8, 50 f1.4

Somewhere in the next county (dishonorable mention)
50 f1.8, kit lens, sigma 18-50 f2.8, Sigma 18-125

I don't own all these lenses now but I have owned them all at some point in time.

The 300 f2.8 is basically a perfect lens, I don't think you could get a better image. However I haven't had the fortune to own the 200 f1.8 yet though!

the most pictures that really "pop?" Beautiful pictures that make
people say "wow!"

Not necessarily your most used lens, but the one that gives the
most stunning results.

I have a few lenses that regularly give me that special "liquid clarity" or "pop".

The 24-70L certainly does.
The 24 mm f/1.4 does.
The 135/2 does
The 17-40 did it for me (sold it)
I've gotten it with the Sigma 70-200/2.8 on the 10D.
My 50/1.4 has done it on occasion.

I have a couple of lenses that I haven't experienced enough to tell if they deliver or not. I expect the 16-35 will once I give it some quality time.

I guess the 80-200 F2.8 L is pretty hard to beat..it has a quality of image and a feel of image that is at least making me go wow when I see them. The 400mm F5.6 L also has a nice image quality but the bokeh on the 80-200 F2.8 L is just awesome.

Best lens I own without any doubt! 70-200 4.0L

Retired Navy Master Chief Photographer's Mate - 30 years service. Combat Cameraman, Motion Picture Director and Naval Aircrewman. Equipment: Canon Ten-D DSLR with 28 to 135 millimeter IS, 70 to 200 millimeter f/4L, 20 millimeter f/2.8 prime and, yes the plastic toy lens that delivers great images - 50 milimeter f/1.8 Mark II. Also Canon 1.4 x teleconverter and 420 ex flash.

I have 100-400L, 70-200L IS, and 100 f/2.8 macro, but the 17-40 blows me away more than all the others put together. Thats mainly because it has an easy job, full frame people mostly. Whereas the others are chasing swimmers, birds, butterflys and the like. But I do love that 17-40L!

Better lucky than smart. The more shots I take, the luckier I get.

that "WOW" factor. Out of my 3 L zooms (16-35, 24-70 and 70-200IS), 70-200IS has that "POP" when shot at wide apertures.

My sharpest, best color, and best control of DOF lens is the 50mm/f1.8.

This lens isn't worth a darn shooting soccer, so the Bigma gets it done pretty nicely up to 450mm or so.

For walking around with one lens shots, the 17-40/f4 is the one. This one rivals the color and contrast of the 50mm and should for the extra $$$!

In the end, it boils down to the lens on the camera that gets the shot you wanted. Without it, you just have a poorly framed shot.

Are you using the Mamiyas on a Canon? which adaptor? Just wondering as I'm waiting for a Zork PSA at the moment.
