Hi everyone,

at this early time of the year, when there are long arguments on who's sharp and who's not, we still take photos, despite the poor light of winter. Although not necessarily fully intentional, i got some result i like (although pretty motion-blurred) and wanted to share, from a detail of the cathedral in Chartres (France) yesterday. Not my best-ever shot, but rather inspirational on the big gap between how sharp a shot is, and whether you like it...

100ISO, 0.6s, 50mm on 18-50DC, F/5.6, processed on SPP only

This was at dawn, the lights on the cathedral were already lit. I love the resulting texture of the stone, the warm color of the artificial light against the copper-green roof, and the strength of the arches.

Please have a look too at the following pano, which includes (imperfect) perspective restoration for an impossible point of view on the cathedral...

You own feelings welcome,
Henri

Here is an image I captured a couple of hours ago. While I would have much rather it had been sharper because it is the closest I have ever gotten to a male cardnial I am happy with it.

Here is an example of what I can do with a cardnial in good light

Very nice - I like the feel of it - although too many of mine are blurred but not by choice!

You asked for it...

Some blurry ones, ...one from a while ago and three from the last couple of days. The light was going away, but there were still some good rides going on. Once I reach the "end of the line" with camera adjustments in the low light, I go to Auto and try to pan and keep the face or something in focus. Sometimes it works.

As blurred as it is, I still think it's a good photo. I feel the city while looking at it in a very pleasant way. Nice work.

Nice majestic feeling to the blurred cathedral.

Here's one of mine. It can't get much more blurred, but I kind of
liked the colours and geometry - shot with Helios 44M F2, M42 lens:

I like the first image for its surrealism. It's almost hard to say that it's a photograph and could easily be a computer generated image for a movie or game. Nice.

This is also cool, I never get any motion blur, only one timne when I shoot directly out of the car, early morning on the Autobahn, but they where just blurred or becoming so abstract that they are unsusable :-)
Sadly the original size did not work at the moment.
